I think anti tag is a cultural phenomenon that doesn't really exist anywhere else because we assume that people on Tumblr are conscious and capable of forming a thought. But maybe we are not so clear about what exactly are we using it for? Because anti Kimi tag in my particular case means something like that: I'm not rooting for the guy, his wins don't bring me joy, he comes off as unappealing to me because I heavily disagree with merc's narrative and Toto's management, I'm annoyed by his fanbase that doesn't do his position justice by babying him, his character doesn't match with my personal understanding of what a good pr storyline is, I don't find him relatable therefore my compassion is seriously limited, although I understand that it's Merc's fault and it's a disservice on their side to make him win with so little effort, turning many fans against him in the process, I also find it unsettling how insistent Toto is with him and think that it might not turn out well for him in the future. I don't hate him, don't wish him (god forbid) any harm, he's simply not my hero and rn certain sides of him are getting on my nerves and reopen my wounds as a gr63's fan

I know 19 year old boys, and yes, most of them are like that. that’s totally normal

HOWEVER, kimi is quite literally being paid to be better than that. $2 million, in fact. Many people on here were surprised by Toto's funny-not-actually-funny behaviour so here's a few things I've managed to google about him, react to them however you want:

Toto's been married before Susie and has 2 more kids. The only thing we know about this woman is that her name is Stephanie. That's it. Not even a last name, not even a picture. Wolffs created a very nice image of a good family, however some time ago Toto said that he had no idea that his son, Benedict was working in F1 related stuff. They are not close by any standards.

He and Susie have an age gap of 11 years.

He was previously dating Miss Austria 2000, her name is Patricia Kaiser. They've dated around 2008, Patricia was 24, Toto was 36 (12 years - saving your time).

George sleeps at Toto's house. He said it recently after Carmen had a surgery and he's mentioned that Toto lets him sleep at his house in UK sometimes.

It's also not a new thing. George was sleeping at Toto's when Lewis came to break the news that he's going to Ferrari. Toto literally called George over and said "you won't believe what he just told me".

When Susie was having her f1 car test Toto told her "don't be shit".

When Susie is ill Toto doesn't really ask how's she doing, he comes back 6 hours later to ask if anything has changed.

The night before their wedding Toto showed Susie a list of pros and cons that he's made.

So those are not really connected facts. However they answer my question "what the fuck, Toto?" or at least support my right to ask this question.

toto shutting down george questions is the funniest thing ever because imagine you're a journalist and these are your options:

asking about kimi who just won yet another race from pole, with impeccable form and zero issues. he was P1 in the championship and he still is. also he's 19.

asking about george who's visibly in the middle of the ten plagues of egypt including schroedinger's straight line speed deficit, which nobody at mercedes can agree on a story about, whether it's the car, the PU, the driving, if it's fixed, how long it's been going on etc, and whose car issues caused a DNF in the very first lap, sparking a huge crashout on the radio and killing any momentum he was building in the championship from the last few races and doubling his gap to the leader.

max verstappen, oh max verstappen. started f1 at only 17 and has had countless rules made because of him, earned the hatred and then begrudging respect and then adoration of all the older drivers, became the accidental mother of every rookie on the grid for the past few years, randomly makes jokes about getting shot for openly disliking the regulations only after openly disliking them for forever, a good father in spite of the example his own gave him, friends with all his old rivals, a hop and a skip away from openly bisexual… and all of that came to my mind before the fact that he’s a 4 time world champion. he truly is the gift that keeps on giving

this is a professional assassination, or one in the works. Mercedes has never protected george’s public image. and i think i know why: to control him. to have the opportunity to discard him whenever they want. like just look how crazy Toto was when Oscar posted that he was not gonna drive for Alpine. he was crazy with the kid, calling him names to the press. just because he was an example of a driver deciding his own fate, what he thought was better for his future. without thinking of loyalty and whatnots.

Toto has never intended for George to have that liberty. he can’t talk with other teams if he wants to leave Mercedes, because all his management comes down to Wolff himself. that’s exactly why Wolff is not afraid of not backing down George, why he talks shit about him and never take accountability if things go wrong. he has this perfect victim to rely all the responsability.

i really think he wanted George to win this wdc, because he knows that Antonelli doesn’t have the same experience. but when he saw, after a few problems with George’s car, that there was no other competition and Antonelli could win easily, he just moved his plan forward. George doesn’t matter anymore, now all he wants is the youngest wdc winner ever.

Because, after Hamilton left, he understood that he can’t do the same thing that he did to George, if he wants another legend. That type of control is not what he needs now. He needed another Max. A kid nurtured by the team, especially when it came to his public image. That’s why he had a freaking documentary before joining F1. That’s why he is always protecting him from italian media, even though they only talk bad about george mostly.

“Antonelli is just a kid”. And they did a very good job with creating that image. Even when there’s proof of his bratty character, is always dismiss. People don’t care if he was driving while texting or that he insults drivers when they don’t give him what he thinks he deserves. But, most important, people don’t care if all his wins are because of the advantage of just driving the fastest car. not even when the only time he was having a w2w battle with George, he was doing a terrible job. And i’m not even talking about all the track limits in every race.

Wolff is throwing George apart, because he is not necessary anymore. putting his driving style to question for his bad performance, even when people can see his car has problems. he knows nobody will remember this in the future, just who wins. and right now the only answer for him is Antonelli. I don’t know what George can do in this position but I need him to just realise that he has no backing from Mercedes. He has to make his own path to victory, because his team is not with him.
