White person writing Precure story based on Chinese culture/history?

Normally id post this question on Precure Amino but i want to avoid posting more “controversial” topics on there as most of the members are really young. But I really want peoples opinions on this!

I had this Tokyo Mew Mew OC team based on Kung Fu Panda and its been dead for years but i would like to revamp them via Precure.

I wouldn't use Kung Fu Panda as the starting point, but id like to keep the Chinese aspect.

I dont want to take up the space of making a Chinese themed Precure and potentially taking that away from an actual Chinese person with first hand experience with Chinese culture , whilst my extent is through research and Chinese media (most have been dramatized and/or fiction). I know that my doing this doesnt remove the opportunity of a Chinese person making a Precure season based on China but still.

Also dont want this post to sound white saviour or white guilt. But ive been watching a lot of Xiran Jay Zhao and a lot of critism of media based on Chinese culture/history stems from it being made by a white production team with surface level and poor research/knowledge and i think its an important conversation to have within the fan cute fandom.

I finally did something lmao

It’s only a small reference style piece but hey

For the design my main inspiration was the 70s

I’m also more comfortable with masculine presenting clothes so I have myself some bell bottom trousers with a slit so I could add the white part that the bottoms have in heartcatch, they are normally petals but since my flower is baby’s breath that entire section is the flower (thank you Squid for that idea)

The texture of the flower isn’t shown but image this concept just with fabric

Military fashion is also a huge play in this design with the beret, cockade and the turtle neck (something that I think is my main identifier in my personas)

Also some platforms to just cement that 70s influence
