new love

you told me you’ve been hurt before.

you're fragile.

but so am i.

i think you forgot everything that i told you about my broken relationships.

you promised me that what you wanted from me was real.

but as soon as I showed you all of me,

you were gone.

i thought i found a new love,

but all i have is another

heartache.

                            if the world was ending

          If the world was ending, your number would be the first one I’d call. I’d tell you that I loved you, and I’d hope that you’d tell me that you loved me, too. But even if you didn’t, I’d be happy to have your voice be the last sound I heard.

          If the world was ending, I’d spend whatever time we had left on this planet driving to your house for even the slimmest chance that I could see you again. For a chance to have you be the last thing I laid my eyes on. To lay in your arms. For a chance to feel your lips against mine, to have you be the last thing I taste. For a chance to have you as my ending. But even if I didn’t make it in time, I’d be happy to have you as my last thought. 

          If the world was ending, I’d hope that I would make it onto your list of people you’d want to see one last time. But even though I know I won’t,

          You’d be the only person on mine.

coffee

coffee doesn’t taste good anymore.

no matter how many packets of sugar or tablespoons of creamer, it never strays from the bitter taste that coats my tongue and swells in my throat. the bitterness that makes my body tremble.

the bitterness tastes of your blood, of flashing lights, sirens, of losing you all over again. the bitterness tastes of 6AM, waking up beside you and groggily but happily dragging each other to the local coffee shop for just one taste of sweet, sweet coffee.

you liked your coffee bitter.

i never did. i never will.

coffee doesn’t taste good anymore.

better off this way

if i could count

all the stars

in the midnight sky

i don’t think it would amount

to the number of reasons

why you’re so bad for me

yet here i am

missing you

wanting you

needing you

and though i know that what we had died long ago

i can’t help but reminisce on the countless nights

spent in your arms

that have now turned into

countless days

spent wishing you weren’t gone

i don’t know what to do

i’m lost inside my wonderland
