Hey :) I have some questions about studying in Korea. Are master studies in Korean universities in english or korean? I see that many of them require a certain level of proficiency in Korean, so I was wondering if this was just for "everyday life" or to be able to do the course. Also, is it really hard to get into the best universities or is it "easier" as an international student? I heard somewhere this was the case, but I was not sure whether to believe it or not :-/

Well, I don’t know much about master studies in Korea, but I’m pretty sure most of them are in Korean, but there are some in English as well (in big/great universities at least). The one I may take is in English.

If you want to take master studies in Korean I’m sure they will require you a certain level of proficiency (5~6?), but if you take it in English, you’ll need to prove your English is good enough through TOEFL or IELTS (unless you come from an English speaking country, which is not my case lol). 

They probably require certain level of Korean for both academic life and everyday life. Even if your classes are in English, most people in universities will speak to you in Korean, and it would be a bothersome for you and for them if you can’t communicate. I highly recommend going to Korea at least knowing how to read, greet and order food.

As an international student getting into SNU, Korea University or Yonsei Univ. is really easy. They still care for your language proficiency requirements, grades and everything, though. As long as you apply knowing you fit the requirements: you are in. 

(This is just my perspective on this, and it may be wrong, but I noticed Yonsei and SNU especially are fighting over who has the most foreign students. So, yeah, international students -foreigners or Korean descendants- get positively discriminated in the acceptance process.)

Hello I was wondering how did you get the scholarship? Like you apply or contact them?

Hello! :)The Korean university contacted me. The process was a bit complicated, if you (or anyone else) want to now about how it worked send me a non-anon message and I’ll answer in private.

But, there are options you can apply to! Just go to any Korean university’s website and check the International Students part, they always offer scholarships for foreigners. But you must apply for them between November and December, so you are late for this semester…

TIP: Get in contact with your Korean embassy to ask them if they can offer any scholarship, they give them in most countries! (as far as I know, they don’t give them in Spain and France, though)

I'm going back to Korea!

I got an e-mail from one of the best universities in South Korea last week, and they offered me a scholarship to study a masters program with them once I finish my major (I'll graduate on June 2016). I told them I still had a year and a half to study here, but it seems it's not an issue for the university.

I'm coming back Korea!

Can't wait to eat kimbap and kimchi jjigae again! :)

I was in Korea studying abroad (yeah, I was, I’m back home now!), and I may go back to study for a masters program there!

But there are lots of foreigners in Korea for different reasons (working as English teachers, volunteering, working in different places, etc.!) Moving to Korea without being a student it’s a bit tricky, but it’s still possible ^^

Hi! I’m sorry, but I know nothing about it! 

I didn’t meet any student from Ewha during my stay in Korea, but I still heard it’s a good university! :) You should check the program online, maybe there are reviews?
