One thing I feel isn't spoken about enough is the way high schools let boys get away with low key harassing and assaulting female students

Some unemployed guys created an anonymous account on insta where they literally just said the most vile things about these girls from the grade above mine, and the school administration didn't do jackshit. The same administration that cares so much about their image and would literally crucify a student for criticising them publicly or saying anything negative about the school online does nothing when male students go around sexualising female students on social media

These twelfth graders in my school literally made a list where they ranked girls and called them 'unrapeable' and these guys were completely protected by the schools vice principal who literally defended them. These 3 guys later went on to post a street interview where they called feminism retarded. They've left now, but the principal had a thing where she basically threatened all the students not to circulate that video

There are several instances where boys from my grade and the grade above have sexually assaulted or groped girls, and we have cameras and like a hundred eyewitnesses to corroborate it. The worst punishment these guys get is maybe a week of getting suspended and detention once. These guys who were caught vaping in the bathroom got expelled, which is insane. Literally molesting a girl is seen as a lesser crime than using a peach vape

Even during our history class, these males were discussing why there are no prominent women in my country's history. The obvious answer is that they were deprived of education, representation, freedom, liberty and suffrage. But these incels were openly speaking about how they believe women are bad leaders. And the teacher didn't even stop them

Everytime a teacher or principal lets a boy abuse, assault, insult, or degrade women, without holding him accountable at all, it sets a really shitty precedent that violence and hatred towards women is not just tolerable, but also normal. They're quite literally breeding a new generation of rapists and misogynists.

Maybe my high school is just excessively fucked up, and once I graduate, I will actually post about this publicly bc this is soo messed up

It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.

Untangling the character- Binodini

Binodini in Bulbbul represents a woman who has accepted the shackles of patriarchy, conforming to her fate as the wife of a mentally challenged man, Mahendra. Although her marriage is devoid of love or emotional fulfilment, she accepts it because she is married into a zamindar family, which grants her social status and security. Unlike Bulbbul, who resists and seeks freedom, Binodini chooses submission, believing that her position as a zamindar's wife is her only path to survival.  She envies Bulbbul's independence, but her own compliance shows how patriarchy traps women in different ways—either by conforming for security or by resisting at great personal cost. Binodini’s character highlights the internalised oppression women face, often making them complicit in their own subjugation.

First, you're sad watching it because you know what happened to Bulbbul previously, then you get even sadder because you realise that Binodini has that speech rehearsed as she herself was told that by her parents when she was married to Mahendra, then sadness turns to biterness and anger when you realise that even though Binodini is a victim also, she choose to bow down to patriarchy and is taking her jealousy and anger on Bulbbul

I literally pity her, but also hate her at the same time

The older i've gotten the more i've come to think that a substantial amount of people (mostly men) don't really have an internal sense of morality. Like there are two questions they ask themselves when deciding to do something and that is 1. will this benefit me and 2. will i face negative consequences for doing it. and that's it. No asking themselves if it negatively impacts others, just selfishness.

I can't verbalize this in the way I want to, and I don't want to make any woman feel like she's not allowed to complain. But every time I see the uterus personified as an evil entity and periods treated as bad, I low-key cringe. No, your body isn't inherently meant to be pregnant, and no your period is not a punishment for failing to be pregnant. You're not failing at being a woman because you aren't having babies. Your body is not turning against you because you did something wrong. Unless you suffer from an illness that exacerbates your periods, you're just going through a neutral, dare I say good because it's a sign you're healthy, human female experience. This way of thinking feels like the modernized opinions of a medieval priest.
