The final bout upon the moon against Kevin Kaslana was... Nearly impossible to put it lightly. The representative of Finality had pushed all of Earth's mightiest to their absolute limit and then some, as the representatives of Humanity did their best to climb to nearly insurmountable wall of strength that men held. . . . By the end of it, such an experience had taken a rather heavy toll on The Herrscher of Sentience. She needed time to herself. She needed time to think. She needed time to think about how... This was it. . She found herself wandering away from the group. Now seemed like a better time than ever to explore the facility on the Moon. . . . This was The Previous Era's doing, wasn't it? World Serpent had just taken control of it if she recalls correctly... As she explored ancient ruins and futuristic-looking technology, she took time to look back into Fu Hua's vast pool of memories, piecing together what each and every structure was. . . . Eventually, she found herself stopping at a particularly dreadful area. She stood upon a ledge, arms crossed over her chest as she stared in silence at a distant crater within the Moon's surface... . Yeah. If she recalls correctly, this was the resting place of The Herrscher of The End... The Seraph of God that descended upon Earth all those years ago. . . . She'll... Stay here for a bit. She'll take in the sight for now...

it all happened so quickly .

one minute , she was having her long awaited reunion with kiana , the next minute , she was in a dreamscape , talking with the person she'd spent so much time with in the elysian realm , another -- she had gained their power , all of them.

at the very end ? they stood before kevin , they stood before the final hurdle -- and they were still standing , despite everything thrown their way , they still stood .

mei knew what this meant .

she didn't want to accept it .

she put on a strong face for her -- but .

she hated what was to come next .

so she took a minute to separate herself -- just to get some fresh air . . . well , as fresh as one can get on the moon , nonetheless , she just needed a minute to let this all process , to let it all sink in . .

to mentally prepare herself for what's to come .

she had thought everyone was still together , so she was surprised to find the area she was heading was already taken , she could've walked and kept moving , but . . .

she walked forward , taking a seat right next to her , legs crossed , hands set at her side .

" is it alright if i stay here ? just for a few minutes , i won't bother you , if that's what you'd like . "

her tone was soft , there was a sadness behind it , despite the triumphant victory they had just achieved .

"Hm?" Crimson pupils would redirect their gaze to the new Herrscher of Origin. . Odd. Normally, she'd have something witty or obnoxious to say right about now, but... All she could was sigh, rolling her eyes as she began to look ahead of her again. "Go ahead. I guess you lot have earned it after everything you just went through." A hint of jealousy could be heard in her voice. Kiana, Mei, and Bronya had all managed to do what she spectacularly failed at... They had fought Kevin to a standstill at the Apex of his strength, and even went as far as to overcome him. On the other hand, this Herrscher couldn't even overpower the Diabolic form he had made use of... It was a rather devasting blow to her pride, one which she would hold onto for a while now.

You should be proud to put up with me, Old Timer!

[ Starter for: @taixuandream ] It's been a while since she last saw the Old Timer's face, hasn't it? While she's been out exploring the world, Sentience has been cooped up on a mountain, feeding a bunch of birds like some sord of LOSER. . She's had it up to here. She's reached the end of her rope. So much so that she's now angrily fished her phone from within her outfit, dialing the Old Woman's number and immediately putting it on speaker. She better be prepared for an earful, because it's about time this Herrscher starts demanding the attention she deserves. Leave her back on the Mountain, will she? She'll be getting paid back, that's for damn sure...

'Bzzz, bzzz. Bzzz bzzz.'

The vibrating of her phone draws the Phoenix's attention. Reception was a bit shaky here on another world. It would seem that Senti would most likely not like her current excuse, but that was a battle Fu Hua could never win.

Wincing as the phone was held up before her, almost tempted to dodge the call. However, it was unfair to the other. They had a storied past, and though it was rocky, had come to coexist in a way that was almost friendly. She would not send a friend to voicemail if she could avoid it.

'Click'

"Hello? Sentience? Is everything alright?" While it was possible for this to be a more casual conversation, that wasn't her usual speed. Glancing around, feedback of consistent voices would come through her end. Ducking into a smaller coffee shop, that would be cut off for the most part. Quickly, she orders a basic coffee with some cream and sugar, and waits.

"I feel like you never call me. How're things going at home?"

The calm before the storm was one to be cherished, even if it ended up being rather short... Five whole seconds had passed after the Old Timer spoke, before a certain Herrscher began to practically SCREAM through the other end of the phone-! "HOW'RE THINGS?! IT'S BEEN THE SAME OLD BORING STUFF EVERY DAY NOW!!!" Boredom will do that to her. She's very obviously jealous that Fu Hua gets to roam out in the world while she has been cooped up in a mountain for far too long. "Hey, hey! What exactly made you think you scurrying off on your own wouldn't eventually make me grab you by the throat like this? Do you wanna explain yourself and the abandonment you put me through, Old Timer?! Explain it to all the Phoenixes too while you're at it."

. . . This girl... Is she really supposed to be the Earth's savior...? Watching her fumble about with her computer, struggling to even keep herself composed for a simple call... . It wasn't even pathetic enough to laugh at. This was almost a sad kind of pathetic. A soft sigh escaped the Herrscher's lips, as she shook her head. "Wow, I didn't think it was possible for you to still be such a dunce. Did all that isolation really do nothing for your meditation? Or did the Old Timer not get on your ass for that??" As she spoke, she slowly began to realize that her camera wasn't even turned on. . . . Eh, what the heck? With a simple click of her mouse, the webcam was switched on, revealing the Herrscher's rather unamused face.

Oh. She knows that voice the moment it echoes out of her laptop speakers, and its owner's camera flickers to life hardly a second later to confirm it. 

"Senti?" Shoot. "I mean, sorry, what was it you preferred? The Herrscher of Sentience?" Geez, what a mouthful. She can't imagine if everywhere she went people called her The Herrscher of Void Flamescion Finality or whatever. 

"Fu Hua got on my ass plenty, thanks, you just caught me at a bad time." A huff as she straightens out her shirt. There's plenty of time in the day to practice meditation when you've got weeks worth of nothing on your calendar for the rest of forever. Nobody said she had to be doing it now. 

"Anyway, why are you calling me? I don't mean it in a bad way, just..." When was the last time Senti expressed an actual want to talk to her? Probably never, or at least not since the whole escapade on Mount Taixuan. Which was a while ago now, and it's been a while since they've even spoken at all. Kiana shakes her head.

"I'm not complaining or anything, just... did something happen?"

"Eh? Do I need to have such a big reason in order to contact you???" She spoke in a somewhat offended voice, eyes rolling as she folded her hands onto the desk in front of her. "Listen. I just felt like calling, okay? It was either going to be me or somebody else anyway, so be happy someone decided to drop in." Of course she would never dare to admit that she found herself missing Kiana. That's something she would never hear the end of if she said it out loud...

"Do I really have to check in on her...?"

[ Sᴛᴀʀᴛᴇʀ ꜰᴏʀ: @voidrifter ] The final confrontation against the Sire of World Serpent was beginning to feel like a distant memory for quite a few people. The end of Project Stigma not only marked the end of the Honkai Invasion upon Earth, but it also marked the start of what would be a Ten Year departure for a certain Prodigal Girl... How long has it been now? Two? Maybe Three years actually... . Ah, who cares? Everyone'll know when it's over anyway, so there's no need for this Herrscher to keep an eye on the date. . . . But is she really meant to not say a word to this girl until she finally floats down to Earth again? Something about that doesn't sit right with her. . Eventually, such feelings became a bit too much to handle for the Herrscher. So much so that one evening, she decided to swallow her pride and sacrifice a few thousand yen on a brand new laptop. Sure, there were probably several people at St. Freya she could ask for temporary use of... Whatever they used to call up the moon, but that'd be way too painful. She'd never live it down. It took several hours to set everything up. Heck, she had to make a brand new account for this video calling service. What a pain in the ass... But now came the hardest part of all. Now she had to actually dial up the number and press the button to call. . . . It took way too long. It took about five minutes to enter a single digit. At the rate she went, it was now dangerously close to midnight. But eventually... . That big green button at the bottom of the screen was pushed. With her camera turned off and her mic unmuted, she sat in front of her laptop in complete silence, waiting for any sound to pierce the silence of the room... . Maybe she won't pick up. Maybe she can be spared of the painfully wholesome and heartwarming bs... . Right...?

It's quiet on the moon, which is common sense, but every now and then Kiana still finds herself surprised by it. How hours can pass without a single sound if she doesn't go out of her way to produce it, and how she can go a whole week without talking without realizing. Generally it's not that long, though-- someone's always calling, or Aunt Theresa is always heckling her about some assignment ( seriously, who does homework on the moon?? ) but it has happened.

And she doesn't really like that.

It's happening right now-- she's got her knees drawn to her chest in a just-comfortable- enough chair that has been assigned to the little desk in her room. Eyes practically glazed over, staring at the same empty screen like it might give her something else to do. 

To her surprise, it does. A loud ring breaks the stillness, sends Kiana jolting up from her position and fumbling for her mouse. The caller ID doesn't pull anything familiar, which is weird, but maybe something happened and Mei is borrowing someone else's phone or-

"Hello?" She chirps as the call is answered and overtakes her screen with two little boxes. In one, herself: disheveled and in the same outfit she'd slept in last night. In the other: nothing. Kiana frowns and squints at the screen, leaning in further like that might make the lilttle default icon spill its secrets.

"Um, who is this? Hello?" She's leaning even further now, one arm on her desk to support her weight and- "Ack-!!" 

Her chair rolls out from under her, sending her to the floor and offering the camera a lovely view of her forehead as she hoists herself up again. Kiana rubs her temple. "Ow."

She experienced the malice and villainy of this woman firsthand, and now everyone was just letting her do what she wanted...? . . . . Contrary to what she normally does, she didn't announce her presence, nor did she approach. She didn't know what to say, nor did she know if she really should be saying anything.
