By the time you finished your duties for the day, the sky had become inky blue with a scarlet blush at the edge where the sun was setting. You stretched your limbs as you walked down the corridor, sighing, but stopped when you heard your name being called.
You beamed upon seeing that familiar figure at the corner behind you. "Romarriche! You're back! How was the trip?"
"Simply wonderful. I've been looking forward to telling you and Lord Marroncream about it. Are you able to walk with me this evening?"
"Of course!"
The apple orchards and hefty fruits, the open markets, the lovely meeting with the lord of the kingdom, and the funny things the younger Fragaria did. . .
How Lord Marroncream was doing, events that took place in town, things that happened in the castle, and any projects you've been working on. . .
You both ended up in the garden behind the castle, the moonlight the only source of illumination. It turned some of the the roses light blue and the now still water in the fountain a silvery white. You were smiling almost the entire time--it was great chatting with Romarriche again. He seemed to feel the same, as his smile barely faltered.
Eventually, you two fell into comfortable silence, heading back towards the castle after circling around a section of the garden. Just as you stepped on the main path, Romarriche stopped you.
"It was wonderful talking to you again," he said, a look of adoration on his face. You returned his smile with your own warm and bashful one. He stepped closer to you and you took a tiny step forward to meet him halfway. His hands found yours; he closed his eyes and started to lean forward.
You did the same.
"Oh, Sir Romarriche, did you go back out to town?"
"To town. . . ? Oh, no, I just returned from visiting Lord Hello Kitty's kingdom."
"Ah, really? Then who was I..."
Suddenly, there was a chime of magic, and your face bumped into something solid. Your eyes snapped opened. Two small magical barriers were between you and Romarriche. He was glaring at something to the side.
Another Romarriche was standing further up the path, arm outstretched and palm facing out. "Step away from them," he said.
You backed up, looking between the doppelgangers. What was going on?!
The Romarriche in front of you suddenly greyed. His body shimmered like he was being watched through a low quality VHS tape. He suddenly glitched--in that brief moment, you spotted something that made you gasp: a SEED. His attention snap towards you at the sound, and you backed up even more.
He lunged, hand shooting out to grab you, but in a flash of red, he was trapped in a honey comb-patterned dome. The real Romarriche called for you, telling you to run; you didn't hesitate.
The doppelganger glared before glitching severely and shedding its disguise, magical particles flying outward like glass shattering. Now as itself, it screeched and shot out a wave of dark energy, but the dome held strong.
Romarriche approached it, his steps unwavering even as the SEED tried again and again to break out. "You are not welcome in this kingdom."
The dome was dismissed. The SEED shot a ball of dark energy, but Romarriche blocked it with a simple barrier. He sent forth his own spell, a flurry of roses and tiny dots accompanying it, and the SEED screeched when it made contact.
Before it could fully recover, Romarriche grabbed it. White light shined out from beneath his palm and fingers. "Begone!"
He threw the SEED up to the skies, its outline now glowing white. With a final, echoing squawk, the SEED disintegrated into dust.
You had been watching this all further up the path, past where Romarriche had previously stood. He looked around to make sure there were no other SEEDS before hurrying over to you. "Did it hurt you?"
His hand rose to cup your cheek. "No, you came just in time," you said, your own hand covering his.
He softly breathed out, but the tightness in his eyes didn't ease. "Thank goodness."
After a moment, he enveloped you in a hug that was noticeably tighter than the previous ones he had given you. Not just that, but you could feel the tension in his body. (Somehow, the image of a mother embracing her child after a harrowing event came to mind.)
"There were SEEDS in Pompompurin's Kingdom that took away musicians," Romarriche began, his voice low. "Some of them were rescued, but... they lost their passion for music. The kingdom became sad and lonely from the fear and empty feelings. And just now, you had almost been taken away."
"The rest of the Red Bouquet and I resolved the SEEDS issue, and the musicians are rediscovering their love for music. But the thought of you losing your passion, even just for a moment, frightens me. I love watching you work on your projects and seeing your beautiful smile when you finish one. I wouldn't be able to stand it if you couldn't smile like that anymore."
You were once again touched by Romarriche's care for you. You gently wrapped your arms around him. "But that didn't happen. You made it, I'm still here. Even if I did get taken, I know you'll be able to get me back."
"Did you know--" you pulled away a little to look at him--"that whenever I work on a quilt, I think of you and that lovely quilt you gifted me? I doubt a SEED could take away the warmth of that gift nor the feeling I have towards you. So, even if I come back a little lost, I know that you'll help me remember the things I love to do."
Romarriche's eyes had widened, touched by your words. After a moment, adoration shone in them, and you felt the tension leave his body. He finally smiled, and you returned it with your own. "I cherish you dearly," he said.
"And I to you," you replied. Slowly, the two of you leaned forward and shared a short, tender kiss. For a few quiet seconds after, you stared into each other's eye, a light blush on his cheeks and a loving smile on your lips.
"Let's go back inside. I'm sure you're tired from traveling so much," you said.
He agreed. Arms linked together, you both strolled up the path to the castle's entrance. "I'm thinking of making some chamomile tea. Would you like to join me?"
"I would love to. Oh! You mentioned the Red Bouquet earlier. Did it become official?"

ive been thinking of nails and painting nails w fragaria ever since i fot mine painted,, its been rough bc either i dont have time or energy or imagination or
i don't think i've expressed reader in a way that i wanted but i think it came out ok(?). had to search more abt what type would be best w will's chara and apparently by mbti standards is its own (INFJ) and those similar-ish so thats what i went with - an introverted (ambi maybe ww) character that mostly opens up to others quickly somewhat similar but different enough (i hope)
they ended up kinda nerd-ish and that may be mb guys i overthinked a lot writing this and that may have translated over them (im INTJ) www

i was trying to make it so reader is will's lucky charm (thus the four leaf clover) and vice versa (rainbow leaf) but there wasnt as many luck motifs as i wanted because that was an idea i had later
you could say that ending up in mell's country by mistake could be luck and thats what i'll go with
also, regarding the knot, i was trying to choose a chinese knot that means both luck and love but didnt find one i liked so i just went with a clover one for the theme
