Today I know. Today I know I have loved every part, every season, every iteration of you. Sick, happy, angry, loving, struggling, successful, every piece of that, of you I have loved and cherished. There was no hope, ever since that first conversation about not wanting something serious, about hiking in the clouds, about your love of tomato plants and your botany career. There was no hope. I came back to you every time. How surprised I was that you too were coming back to me. A little nudge, a little hey, a little flicker in my heart. I still get butterflies when I see you, when I see your beautiful eyes crinkle into a smile, when you incessantly tease me. And then, in the more recent past seeing you build a life you're proud of, that I'm proud of. You are the light in my day and the warmth at night. I'm in love with your strength, your perseverance, your joy to be alive today, it's contagious. There was never any hope, I know that now. I love you.
