Hello there! We are Endeavoured and Harmony, brothers from the Starlight sector, and we are pleased to make your acquaintance!

We both spend a lot of of our time in the Service department, but Harmony also likes to work medical, and Endeavoured likes to work science.

Feel free to ask us any questions you might have, although there is no guarantee that we are capable of fully answering them. (Personally, I'm bad at talking about myself, and Harmony has always had difficulties with speech in general, but he tries his best -Endeavoured).

We hope to be able to connect with others outside our sector and see what the average shift looks like for someone outside of our usual sector of space!

i've always liked surgery but never had the hand stability to do anything outside of regular treatments and transplants, though i suppose that's all you really need to get by on the station.

That does seem to largely be the case for most jobs on-station. Most of the time, you can get by on the basics, and every now and then something comes up that you need to ask your department head about.

Usually they know what to do, but sometimes . . . they don't. Which is embarrassing for everyone involved.

Personally, I wouldn't do it, at least not unless there was someone there to immediately bring me to medical if I go down.

But if you don't do it, and do it with as many precautions as you can, some poor research assistant who doesn't know better is going to do it blindly, and end up badly hurting themselves and/or others.

I can't stop you from doing it of course, but I wouldn't. If you must, just be careful, is all I ask.

also why the hell would anyone bring an arti on the shuttle in a bag? they're supposed to either be in containment units or the arti room at all times!

My advice is to get anything that you don't want blown up out of the area, and grab some people who don't mind patching holes in the station to be on standby for when you inevitably do the thing, because I don't think either of us can stop you at this point. You seem pretty dead set on doing this. Which is fine. Finishing the tech tree always feels pretty damn good.

Yeah, sometimes you get the really good science people! And other times you get fumbler after fumbler who doesn't even have the courtesy to label their anomaly vessels so when one's beeping you have absolutely no clue how to fix it because nobody's answering you over comms about location or even the type of the thing and the station is understandably pissed when it inevitably crits because you couldn't do jack shit about it, and nobody who actually knew anything about it did anything!

I make sure to as well, because I know that working in science, shit is going to go sideways, and I will end up being unable to monitor stuff on a semi-frequent basis. And I want people to actually be able to do something if I am unable to.

Not that anyone listens to me when I wake up in medical and see that the anom scanner in my pocket is telling me the anom's going to crit before I can get on the scene again if someone doesn't fix it now and I tell science comms that and no one does shit.

Frustrating as hell.

i've not been around science enough to have any crazy horror stories yet, maybe the time i was signed on as RD and my only scientist intentionally activated an artifact outside of containment AS THE NTR WAS INSPECTING THE DEPARTMENT five minutes into the shift.

Oh yikes. That sounds. . . awful. Reminds me of one incident I had to get relayed back to me when I was RD by the rest of command and my science team.

We received an announcement one shift that there was some sort of weird magical interference going on near the station, and that the science team should be prepared for artifacts to be activating on their own.

You know how I said earlier that a lot of the stations we work on don't have artifact containers?

Yeah. . . apparently right after I warned my science team of the danger that was obviously present by artifacts activating on their own, and to make sure they exercise caution, one of the artifacts near me emitted plasma, and then immediately spawned a fire anomaly on top of that. Woke up very confused in brigmed after having to be healed of about 600 burn damage I think it was?

The rest of that shift was a disaster for other reasons I . . . don't want to get into right now (apparently I ended up consuming bleach at some point), but that's been one of the stories that always lingers in the back of my mind when I think about terrifying things that happen on the job.

I, one of the two surgeons, was literally right there, I could have done the goddamn surgery, but no, the CMO had to do it.

And they fucked it up. Losing my mind.

Honestly considering cryoing out of this shift anyway because the medical team also just. . . let a vox suffocate for several minutes because they ran out of nitrogen.

First fucking thing I did was grab a nitrogen canister and station it in medical because I did not want that happening again.

Who knows if it'll actually get used though.

I managed to catch the vox in particular as they were leaving medbay (they still hadn't been fully treated by the time I found a nitrogen canister and brought it to medbay), and apologized to them for the mistreatment, and they said it was fine, but I knew that it just. . . wasn't? That's not okay at all.

Also I have no clue?? That's why I had to take a moment and recuperate The poor guy was dead too, CMO was bumbling around trying to help revive them and I just feel bad for both them and the CMO.

In an attempt to take a stolen station back from the NanoTrasen pigs, I had taken it upon myself to be an undercover agent. However, the second I stepped off of the Arrivals shuttle, I hear "I think the borg just loosed." Surely they’re joking. Then the sirens start blasting and the room is bathed in orange. Before I know it, I am outrunning singularity and stowing away on an evacuation shuttle. I eventually make it to Central Command and am discreetly taken out of enemy territory, but I do find it amusing how little control NanoTrasen has over their cyborgs.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with you, but as much as I love borgs, they're a real pain in the ass to deal with sometimes. The ion laws they can get are absolutely nuts, and I don't like dealing with the particularly nasty ones. I am always reassured knowing that a lot of them hate following the nasty ones too.

At least with the borgs that end up with their laws deleted, they'll . . . usually be chill with anyone who isn't an ass to them. Ion lawed borgs don't share that same guarantee. Their laws can be anything at all. Which is. . . scary at times, but a lot of ion lawsets are harmless, thankfully.

Found out that one of the stations in our sector found themselves working with a sentient supermatter recently.

And a frankly ridiculous amount of people walked into it willingly.
