Hello! My name is Léon Currie and I am a 18 year old from St. Paul, Minnesota.
I’m a theater actor, and visual artist. My goal for college is to become financially stable and and travel to Mexico to continue studying art. As a young, queer and trans person of color I strongly believe that I can use my personal experiences to help others like me feel more included in art. My first semesters tuition is $4200 and after that its $1400. I also have to help my partner with half of the rent ($110 on my part) and groceries, as well as basic living supplies. Plane tickets are expensive and I owe my partner $700 for a plane ticket because my family and I were unable to pay it. I’m starting this page in the hopes of raising money to help pay for my living expenses and tuition as well as the cost that comes with creating the art I am currently/and hope to make. I am trying my best to raise as much as I can. I come from a single-parent home with two other young siblings. My family couldn’t afford to send me to a traditional art college in Chicago, so now my plans have shifted! Instituto Allende, an art school in Mexico. While tuition is significantly cheaper, it is still too expensive for my mom to be able to help out. Anything you can offer helps, even if you can only help by helping to spread the word!
