The most magical thing in the Grishaverse is not a giant shadow with monsters, not a huge deadly firebird, not a prince with a demon inside, but the fact that in seven books of passionate love and bad medicine there is only ONE pregnancy.
Being ancient and conservative (remember his attitude toward Nikolai's progressive inventions), the Darkling must wear old-fashioned clothes, listen to the music of his youth, and roll his eyes at everything that's currently fashionable in Ravka.
On the other hand, he mandated everyone wear kefta when he became Leade of the Second Army, and I doubt anything has changed in them over the centuries, other than combat-enhancing stats. Let's just admit he couldn't bear to look at the incongruous horror the young people wore, hence the idea of hiding leather pants and torn shirts with colorful prints under the uniform.
I want to go back to 2021, when my dreams could still come true, when my biggest fear was not finding a job after graduating, when I still had reasons to get up in the morning...
I know Villain by Neoni about the Darkling, but what about Villain by Riell? Am I the only one who see Alina's story in lyrics?
You stole my words, you used my name
You took more than I freely gave
Twisted my mind, tasted my skin
Gone when I had nothing left to give
I played it nice to my demise
Silver lining, guess that nice me died
So you can call me a villain
And I will bring your nightmares to life
I'd rather be a villain
Than die as your victim tonight
Your knife in my back, bang-bang, I'm the killer
I'll shoot you where you stand
I, I love the thrill of being a villain
I'm being what you said, aren't I?
It's funny that Darlington and the Darkling grew hair, but not a beard during their imprisonment
Perhaps you'll want to throw stones at me, but I love Alina. Yes, in some places she acted unreasonably (okay, she often acted unreasonably), but I noticed long ago that I have tender feelings for such characters. I am glad that Leigh Bardugo described how Alina did not manage to bring the light, how she make scenes, sobbed, behaved like a child, very selfishly child. Both at school and at university, I met people who were perfect in everything. They made no mistakes and went to the top. To be honest, I really wanted to strangle them.
So maybe I love stupid, annoying characters because I understand that I can be stupid and annoying too...
Okay, we successfully got Ben Barnes to play the Darkling. He's too old for Darlington, so I'm nominating him for Linus Reiter or Michael Anselm. Your thoughts?
“Perhaps it’s a matter of faith. Are you thinking of killing me, Zoya?”
“Yes.”
“Your king wouldn’t be pleased.”
“I’m not going to do it,” she lied. “I just enjoy thinking about it. It’s soothing, like humming myself a little melody. Besides, death is too good for you.”
“Is it?” He sounded almost curious. “What would make my atonement complete? An eternity of torture?”
"Rule of Wolves", chapter 14
The Darkling knew from the very beginning that there was only one way to solve the problem with the Fold.
Is the Darkling still a living amplifier after taking over Yuri's body? Grisha wore the bones or teeth of killed animals to increase their power. If you look at it with reference to science (not Small one), then it seems to be closely related to DNA. But if a Grisha "changed" his body, does that mean he has a different DNA and his bones are no longer imbued with power?
In Rule of Wolves, the Darkling initially returned without his power. Nikolai thought it was because of Yuri's soul (however, after the return of his power, the Darkling still heard Yuri's voice, so I'm still confused by all the causal connections). But we don't know if he can enhance the power of others like before. Only the sun soldiers and Zoya came close to him and touched him. Why didn't they bring this topic up?
In the trilogy, Alina constantly mentioned a surge of confidence, but as soon as we stopped seeing the world through her eyes, we lost a bunch of important information!
It's funny that when the Darkling didn't have his powers (and they weren't sure he wasn't faking it), they kept him shackled. But when he could summon shadows again, and they knew about it, they simply tied his hands with rope...
What if during the events of SaB the camera had already been invented and the Darkling had a photo of Alina? For example, from a winter demonstration, when the two of them stood on stage together.
What if he carried it around with him and was afraid that something would happen to the photo? What if he woke up after being pulled out of the rubble and the first thing he did was check to see if the photo was okay?
What if the Darkling died clutching this photograph to his chest, and Alina unclenched his lifeless fingers to see what he was clinging to in the last minutes of his life...
The fact that Darkling reached out to Alina and she could feel him grieving keeps me up at night. What was he doing??? Where was he? What was he going to say to her? Threaten her? Lash out at her or cry? I need to knowwww!!!
“Let me. It isn’t real. Let me.”
“The sound was so ugly.”
“Was it?” Ulla asked, a hard carapace glinting from beneath all her gems. “Or was it just something you hadn’t heard before?”
When water sang fire
Now she lifted a brow and addressed the Ulle. “The first men to see bears thought they were monsters. My power is unfamiliar, not unnatural.”
Demon in the wood
Aleksander Morozova and his magnetic presence, bitches🛐
#he serves even when doing nothing 🤌 #the Darkling eating his food peacefully #meanwhile the whole room: 👀😶🌫️👀😶🌫️ #jokes aside. Is this one of his powers? Or does he naturally have a noticeable presence? #because sometimes he stays hiding in shadows and Alina doesn't notice him until he speaks
