No, getting bitten by a radioactive spider doesn't "make you a mutant".

Mutants' powers can come at birth or puberty or anywhere in between, but it's NATURAL. We are a group of people who are oppressed in entirely different ways based on how we NATURALLY are. To say shit like that is to see yourself as having the "real" Mute* experience, while erasing ours all so you don't have to acknowledge your privilege.

The word mutate exists for a reason. We may be in community with one another, but don't mistake that for sameness. WE have entirely different struggles and experiences.

Yea, MISTAKEN FOR. By the mere lack of existence of an X-gene on your chromosomes you are cut out of the systemic issues we face DAILY. A sentinel will never show up and kidnap you, try to kill you. You're never being put on a list. Never being taken to a facility. Never kidnapped by Charles Xiaver. etc...

Like, sorry, you can be MISTAKEN for one of us, face some social issues, but it will never be the same as being marginalized for your X-gene. Legit only willful ignorance and a lack of wanting to understand privilege can breed this understanding.
