There are different scenarios running through her head on how they could have met, but this wasn’t on the list. She thinks of home the way a ghost haunts a lover. It’s bloody mess inside her head, death lingers inside of it with reminders of corpses and the hollow eyes. But she does think of Bellamy and how he is better off in charge without her. He can rally them unlike her and she knows this meeting will be brief once they’re both safe. ❝Something like that. Let’s cover each other.❞ They were TOGETHER again.
From the moment he laid his eyes on her again after so much time he knew. He knew without having to ask that she wasn’t coming home, that this would be nothing more than a quick encounter- that was until all hell broke loose. He’d decided to keep distant during this time; but it wasn’t working. Without needing to focus or think about it they fell back in sync with each other.
Their current location wasn’t ideal for much more than defense; covering each other so they could get someone easier to fight back from was their only option.

And his eyes are darting to a tree ahead, he’s confident the small, wordless gesture was enough for Clarke to understand that was his ideal location, that’s where she needed to help him get.

This wasn’t what he had planned for the day, but honestly that was his fault; by now life threatening situations were a daily affair. He’s almost ready to rush back out into the open to look for Clarke when she comes diving behind the tree he was using as cover.
