About Me:

Bonjour and Hello visitors,

I’m a student living in SW Wisconsin studying Reclamation and minoring in French. Working on converting to Judaism as well, so this blog is specifically dedicated to all things Jewish.

I may make posts about things I’m reading, learning about, or generally about my life. It is likely I will post in French or English. I will try to tag my French posts as “français” and you’ll often see the tag “mes écrits” for things I have written.

And just like that, another Shabbat comes to an end.

I’ve had some things on my mind that I need to put into words. I can’t help but feel there is something lacking in my current relationship. I wish it had more depth, romance, and love than it currently does… maybe it’s partly my fault it feels empty. We’ve both been busy and haven’t made much time together and when we do have that time, it’s mostly spent on our phones.

I wish he would open up to me more too. Share his thoughts and feelings, especially when I ask for them. I think that’s mostly just how he is but idk. Don’t get me wrong, I love him so much. I wouldn’t be anything without him honestly. In some ways, he saved me. I just can’t help but feel disconnected from him a little.. again maybe that’s on me.

Not ready for Shabbat this week.

I’m full of bad emotions rn because I’m stressed from my school load, failed my chem exam, and just overall feel like I’m not good enough…

can’t help but realize most of my problems would go away if I actually put some effort in life but maybe I’m being too hard on myself…

also can’t help but feel I’m too quick to follow sin which makes me think if I’m really worthy/capable of being redeemed.. does G-d think I am worthy?

Got a lot going on rn and no one to talk to about it either so that’s great.

Converts, please do not sell yourself short or underestimate the position that you hold within Jewish communities. Your love for Judaism, the Jewish people, and the Jewish culture is infectious and can make people realize the value of the culture they've simply grown up in. When people ask you, "Why did you want to convert?" don't take it as them really asking "Are your reasons for converting up to my standards, to which I will thereby judge whether you're worthy or not?" Most of the time, what we're really saying is, "Please tell me why you love the thing I just grew up in. Tell me why someone would choose this."

Many Jews grew up facing antisemitism in school. So it's baffling to think that someone would willingly subject themselves to this, and some of us grew up internalizing this shame and rejecting our Jewish identity in order to fit in. But you, as a convert, spark light within these people. You, as a convert, have boldly gone against the grain because you see the value in our way of life, one that is not easy. You've joined a people, many times at the expense of your friends and family, and your safety. You're something to aspire to. You rekindle the love and connection we have to our nation. If you don't already realize the value in this, you will when you notice those around you being moved by your words.

Being a convert is not a mark of shame because you're "different," it's a badge of honor. In many ways, you are lighting the torch for the next generation of Jews you come in contact with.

Going into Shabbat stressed out of my mind. I’m broke right now with literally no money. I am working but I’m basically waiting for my paychecks to come in which won’t be for another 2 weeks.. my car is leaking gas so I technically shouldn’t even be driving it but I don’t have any other way to work besides literally walking across town.

I’m praying for things to work out.. but at this point I don’t know..
