Tourism Police Ali was our guard for most of our Lake Nasser tour. He’s there for our protection as the country has a history regarding tourist safety amongst other conflicts. People felt unnerved seeing him with his gun, but soon became accustomed to his presence. He often felt the same when he saw me with my camera.
