Niko remembered when Jake first revealed that he had been doing all he could to get his shifts to line up with his. It was without a doubt one of the sweetest if not THE sweetest thing anyone had done, in his opinion. His mind and his heart were more than set on marrying Jake. They worked on so many levels, and he knew that Jake would do anything for him. Likewise, he would do anything for Jake.
“Oh my god, yeah… Can you imagine? Baby, they are gonna freak,” he mused, laughing along with Jake and kissing his chin. “I can already see it.” He had thought about taking Jake’s name, but he never realized that maybe Jake would want to take his name instead, and to hear that from him made Nikolaj feel like his heart was swelling with happiness. He chuckled softly and smiled, capturing his lips in another kiss. “Iakov Rzeznik. I love it,” he mumbled against the other’s lips.
But when Jake revealed he had a semi, Niko flashed an impish grin, pulling away from the other and began backtracking towards the bathroom. He tugged on the sweater he was wearing and pulled it up over his head, tossing it aside and revealing his toned, muscular chest. “I need you to hose me down, Mr. Firehose,” he teased, wiggling his brows. He looked over his shoulder as he continued to semi-strip tease Jake just to make sure he wasn’t going to trip over anything and make himself look like an ass. He turned his gaze back to Jake and reached down to unbutton his jeans, sliding out of them rather unceremoniously, but still grinning. “You sure you wanna chain yourself to all of this for the rest of your life?” he teased, giving Jake a playful little flex with one arm and rubbing his own chest idly with the other.
Jake goes to shrug, but winds up whining out in pain at the attempt. He needs to stop doing that, because he’s too dependent on wordless gestures as it stands. “Fuck...” he whimpers practically. “West will lose his shit,” he admits. Grayson probably will too, and only because Niko couldn’t commit to him like he had with Jake. He wonders honestly just how much they’d both subconsciously known the other was right for the other. Of course Jake had been in love with Colt, but the man’s jealousy ruined all of that. “Make them eat the bad lasagna, put a lovely note signed from the Captain, it’s perfect. Make them think he made it, that’ll be perfect,” he snickers. Jake kisses back, pressing in so they can savor the moment. They didn’t need to get engaged and be talking about their exes, this moment needed to be about them.
“I love it,” he murmurs, leaning in to kiss him again for good measure. “Love you, too,” he grins, pressing back in to give Niko the kiss of his life. By the time he’s pulled back, he’s breathless and sweating a bit from the effort. He needed to work on his endurance again. As he dwells on the name though, he wonders how long he has to wait for it. Will Niko want a wedding? Will he want people there? Jake’s inclined to just go to city hall to get it done, have a party with a very select few afterwards. He wonders if this might be too much for Niko, if he... he doesn’t want to wind up like Grayson. He’d need to find a way to broach that subject carefully and soon.
And that’s it, it’s the impish grin that gets him. His boyfriend, no, his fiancee may be older than him, but God he could be such a kid. He loved that about him, loved everything about him. Or at least he thought. The hosing him down part, he knows he doesn’t mean a golden shower, so that part comes off sexy still. Watching as Niko strips down for him, it’s honestly the best. Jake stands up, it’s slow, a little wobbly, but he’s got it. “You know,” Jake starts, walking up towards him while working on his belt and pants. “I was absolutely ready to marry you tonight. But after watching you dance babe, I think I might need that ring back.” Jake’s standing over him now, leaning down to kiss the other again. It’s brief, chaste even, stopping the second his pants hit the floor. “Get me out of this harness and shirt?” Jake asks, looking Niko right in the eyes. “You help me out here, I just might be ready to forgive you, Bunny.”
