I’m sure this comes as no surprise. But this is so real. I’m 20 and I have gotten to the point where I somewhat hate watching the news. It’s full of depressing stories about murders, racial violence, crime, and how “their president” is finding new ways to ruin our already “lacking”country. The thought that there is a childrens book like this to facilitate parents in these conversations. No. Just No. I’d like to know who wrote it? A white male giving his sugar coated white washed opinions on blacks in society or a black parent who cringes at the thought if being real with their child and not raising them in love

This photo shook me. I’ve been really consumed by the thought of raising a black child in a society more corrupt then what we are forced t live in. I think I’m going to try to find a little information about Afeni in direct relation to her parenting. I wish I could shake this thought but no matter what I do when it comes to talking about my feature. Children have always been a big part. Now the thought of raising a black child, a male black child in a society like this. Scares me.

Schools are tasked with helping to make sense of the senseless.

After a lot of thinking. I decided to just google it. To see what society thought about it. Even though I’m sure I want to parent in a similar fashion to Afeni. I’m also sure that her black panthers anit police opinions are slightly different that a white woman choosing to stand with the black community.

This article just brought me full circle to everything this class has taut me. This article made me so mad and so sad at the same time. How do we teach our children to be woke like Afeni did without getting caught up in our emotions of the horrible things going on in our world. 10 to 15 years now. I could only imagine things getting worse

This is another one!!!!! I love that the legacy of Rosa Parks is continuing to be propelled by our generation with little things like this. I already ordered this shirt. In all honestly, after going to the Tupac articles, writing a paper and then having questions involving teaching young black man. While, finding the balance of teaching them without scaring them. I feel like encouraging little things like this are fun ways to convey a point with silence

So I plan on buying this shirt soon and I just wanted yall’s opinions about it. I know it will be controversial but I’m here for it. I do not claim Trump as my president because he is a racist ignorant bigot that has recently announced that being President is “too hard” and “much harder then he thought it’d be”. Comments?

This wasn’t directly related to out topic but I feel as though all things derive from the top. The top in this case being the government on this level. I look at the difference in numbers of Presidential visit in Obama and other presidents was interesting. How can we talk about being diverse and understanding other ethnicities if our own leader (even though I still don’t see Trump as my president) hasn’t made a conscience effort to even fake like there was an attempt.

This tweet was very interesting to me. I thought about out Tupac and Afeni’s ability to teach him so he can be aware of his place in this world as a black male. This thread shows a very aware students perspective verses a somewhat sheltered student. The differences were astronomical.

This is not directly related to the topics we are talking about but I think it’s very related to what’s going on in our world. The idea that people are age are would have the want to tweet things like this about “their president” is interesting. I totally agree with her but I think she needs to do a little research on how many/ where bombs were dropped during the Obama administration.

I ran across this on twitter and fell in love!! Why have I never heard of this. I’m honestly loving the push to normalize the muslim and islamic culture. I just wonder what are the real motives behind it.

This video of Amanda Sternberg came out maybe 2 years ago. I think its interesting how white communities have a tendency to adopt and celebrate the culture of people of color at their convenience. In reference to the murder to Luiz Ramirez in the Pennsylvania town, it was not until his death at the hands of local football players that the people in the town conveniently decided to celebrate Martin Luther King without a concrete understanding of their actions. Even yet they were celebrated because the parade was seen as a sign of hope. Similarly, the white community uses blackness as a form of popularity failing to recognize the disrespectful racist connotations associated with their actions. White people are so willing to wear corn rows in videos failing to acknowledge the little black girls in schools that got teased over their hair. Why is it that the recognition of people of color only comes along when it is convenient?

Burning of I-85 Bridge

My thoughts were what wpuld homeless people gain out of burning a bridge? And I also thought maybe they are falsely convicted because homeless people are easy targets and it automatically places them at the bridge. I honestly dont think they did it. I wonder who actually did it and why they would use homeless people to cover it up.

I saw this while I was scrolling on twitter and it reminded me of the people in Shenandoah. Many people say the most racist things but for some reason can’t accept the fact that they’re racist...?

I’m early but I hd to share. This totally blew my mind. This was such an interesting perspective. What really boggles me is the idea that they are lead by fear. So is that why they attempt to rule by fear? How do y’all feel?

In a stunning defeat for Republicans, House Speaker Paul Ryan on Friday canceled a vote on the GOP bill to replace Obamacare because he did not have enough votes from his own members to pass the legislation.

Over the past week, the Trump administration was unsuccessful in repealing "Obamacare". The lack of support shown throughout voting shows that even though Trump was certain he would repeal "Obamacare", the decision was thankfully not up to him. Because the administration was unable toe repeal "Obamacare" millions of Americans will still be able to afford heath insurance. This outcome is a positive result and gives us hope that the bills he has proposed during his campaign will also not come to pass.

“The chronicles of being a black woman”

I loved this it was a little random but I’ve been looking up different aspects of being a black woman that was linked to the missing black girls that the gov’nt seems less than excited to go find. Back to the tweet, I was a little bothered that the first thing I see when I look up aspects of a black woman and hair came up. Being a black woman is a dynamic experience that I am learning more and more to embrace and explore. Our culture is so much more then our hair. Any thoughts?
