Be open and keep faith
If you have any worries or doubts about this class, you are never alone. I felt the same way, but Professor Lo and your classmates will never lose faith in you. You are making a wise choice to stay in this class. Yes, it will challenge you. Yes, it will push you far. Yes, you will be drowning in work, but you will swim.
Keep up with the assignments, keep up with your network of friends that you make, and be open to this class. It is truly, unlike any other class you will encounter in your college career. Professor Lo genuinely cares about each and every student that walks through her door and will guide you to success. You cannot turn down an offer like that that.Â
Strive for progress. Not perfection.

Be aware
Understand why this class is the way it is. We are young college students. We think that getting the A, or achieving the highest GPA is everything. This is the class that will show you that getting the grade is not everything. It is taking the experience you have will gain in this course and keeping that knowledge for your career in the business world.Â
Be precise
From previous english classes, you have been taught to elaborate on your words. NO. That is not true in this class. Make that transition real quick. Your boss will not have ample time to peruse through your 10 page report and neither does Professor Lo. Be precise in your writing.Â
Be precise when you speak. There will be many opportunities to speak in front of the class. These presentations are nerve-racking. I did not realize the habits I have when I am up in front of a group of people, but feedback from Professor Lo and your classmates is helpful if you want to improve your public speaking skills. You have little time to express your topic, ranging from 5 minutes to 30 seconds. Forget about your nerves because you are speaking to your friends, and focus on the content of your speech. Your ability to speak under pressure will sky rocket.Â
A river cuts through rock not because of its power, but its persistence.

Be consistent
This is one of the seven Câs that you will learn and abide by. Everyone needs consistency in life. It gives stability to chaos. Hopefully, you have already seen all the upcoming assignments that is on the calendar. Be consistent with your work. You will be overwhelmed many times during this course. It will happen. Giving little effort to one assignment and trying hard on another, is not ideal. If you consistently work at each and every little assignment you are given, it will not go unnoticed.Â
Be present
No, do not be âa present,â but be present throughout the course; although, this class is a great gift to you so that you may succeed in life with your career.Â
You are blessed with a wonderful opportunity to experience assignments taken straight out of Professor Loâs background. Be present when completing each assignment. There will always be a distraction and you WILL find an excuse to hold off on the assignment, but please heed my advice and be present in mind while focusing on your work. These assignments will test your knowledge and your skills. They are not easy, but they are doable and after completing them, you will find each assignment will grow easier.Â
You are blessed once a week with a 3 hour course. Be present to this class. I missed one class and I felt like I skipped out on valuable information. Professor Lo covers a wide array of topics in her lectures. If you do miss a class like me, contact her, or your classmates to catch up on any information you missed.Â
You are blessed with a classroom full of encouraging peers who are all going to be with you till the end. How often do you get to know the students in your other classes? Maybe you will make one friend in your other class and that is it. Here, you make a multitude of friendships that really help you overcome hard assignments, hard situations, and hard days.Â
Be puntual
It is critical that you are punctual on the first day. . . and for the rest of the classes you have with her. I cannot stress enough that Professor Loâs definition of âon timeâ is 5-10 minutes early. You will find that if you are used to rolling in the classroom late for your other college courses, your late attendance does not really matter. In this class, late attendance does disrupt the flow. I am not sure how big your  particular class will be, but sneaking into her class nonchalantly,  does not work. Come prepared with all of your supplies ready to be used on the first day. Please do take the first quiz seriously. Â
Be punctual for the assignment deadlines. I know each week, the list of work that is due is intimidating. Plan out your time and manage it well because if you cannot manage your time in this one class, how can you manage it when you achieve a real world job?Â
Be punctual to ask questions. Do not hesitate to ask her anything if something is unclear to you. The sooner you clear it up, the easier your task will be.
Go the extra mile. It's never crowded.
