things that not everyone has that i don’t think about enough
-five senses! i can see (nature is the purest form of art, it really really is), i can hear (music is my escape, it saved my life and turned it better than i could have ever imagined), i can taste (smoothie bowls, pasta, corn, mashed potatoes), i can feel (friends hugging me, warmth of a campfire, fresh a/c, an adorable stranger in starbucks brushing past me for a fleeting second), i can smell (freshly mowed grass, chocolate chip cookies in the oven, fresh laundry)
-i have two parents who are still together and who were meant to be together. they fight sometimes, but everyone fights if they live together long enough, and i’ve never ever seen them go to bed angry.
-m y b r o t h e r. we’re best friends. not only do i have a sibling, he’s the person i run to and we came into the world with a unspoken agreement that we were going to be each other’s people forever. i could loose a lot of people and still be ok. if i lost him, part of me would be dead forever.
-i am safe, i have food, i’ve never had to worry about having enough money to eat again soon, i’ve never seen a raincloud and been worried because i had to sleep outside that night. i get school supplies every year, i go shopping for new clothes, i’ve never had to do winter without a coat or summer without shorts.
this is the smallest fraction. i’m so lucky. this isn’t meant to rub it in, i’m just trying to be more open about gratitude and trying to keep myself in a mindset where i’m continuously discovering new things to be thankful for.
