Quentin Tarantino is a whore
"one of the worst actors in SAG–" Balderdash!
Leaves this here for you! I hope they can make you smile!
Smile achieved. Why, thank you. :)
It's the funniest thing to me that he dully notes the police yelling at him so he can finish actively drawing the question mark in his coffee, and only then putting his hands up.
"PUT YOUR HANDS UP."
[Oh, they're here.]
"HE SAID PUT YOUR GODDAMN HANDS UP, SON OF A BITCH"
[Is this question mark right..? Yeah, yeah, that's good. Okay. 🖐️🖐️]
He's just an artist, making sure his work is perfect before leaving. Also, he was waiting for his pumpkin pie, and he said it in a way as if he was expecting the police to let him finish it?! Before they took him into custody.
Man had his priorities! ☕🥧
Thats actually really funny. Out of how much I just sit and think of him, I didn't really even think about how useless that explanation of his was, hah. "I just ordered a slice of pumpkin pie," but I'm afraid they won't care, Edward: You've killed people, my friend, AND exposed their corruption. We won't be seeing your handsome face back on the streets any time soon, unfortunately.
Happy Halloween, Jim and Paul have nearly the same pair of glasses as their respective Riddlers.
I noticed this and found it cool.
A couple more similarities I recognized were that both movies take place on Halloween, or at least have a scene that does, and both of these Riddlers feel betrayed by Bruce Wayne/Batman in some way. When Edward Nygma (Carrey's) first meets his idol, Bruce Wayne, he's not only as obsessed with Bruce as Edward Nashton (Dano's) is with Batman, but both of them are so sure they're on the same page as their idols, only to be shot down and rejected by them moments after meeting.
Nygma after being rejected by Bruce: "You were supposed to understand."
Nashton after being rejected by Batman: "This is not how this was supposed to go!"
—
Nygma in Batman Forever, hoping to be partners: "Look at us, Bruce, two of a KIND!!"
Nashton's writings in Riddler: Year One, seemingly planning to be Batman's second half: "Silently calling out to you. Just think of what we could do together!" "Batman and...???"

I have sketched out my favorite Riddler.
And also learned that drawing Batman is very, very hard.
He looks so soft, I really want to hug him.
I left Riddler: Year One at home while I'm away this week and I'm quite upset about that. I'd probably be raving about it if I got to read more.
Getting shy over a psychopath? I didn't think I'd get here, but I've never seen one as squishy and smart as him before. I really want to hold his hand or something.
A legendary Arkham Knight moment is Riddler saying "I'll be mating you, Dark Knight!" in the middle of a spiel and then realizing how wrong that came out. Lol.
Then proceeding to call me a gutter-minded animal.
Was rewatching The Batman... These comments are really funny to me.
"This Riddler guy is da bomb" "Wow this feed is really blowin up" "this is mind-blowing stuff we're witnessing" Well, you all certainly have a sense of humor, dontcha? They had rather explosive reactions to the prospect of Colson's death.
I would've fainted if Edward Nashton smiled at me, but sure, just keep being a douche. Whatever.
:}
Look at his crooked smile and his sweater, I would scoot closer if I had the chance.
I started reading this and it's really good and very heavy.
What do you think about it? I haven't finished it, so you'd know to have the etiquette not to spoil anything. But... Vaguely, what did you think? I've really enjoyed it so far, even though it's been making me feel like shit.
Watching someone in fiction repeat the same vicious thought cycle that gnaws on his health, or to catch his dark thoughts and experience the futility of trying to calm himself down when he's too familiar with them to be soothed for long. How the way his obsessions could be the only thing keeping him sane or be the thing that further crushes an already mutilated mind. Having destroyed himself and trying to pick up the pieces with broken hands. It takes a level of strength he doesn't have. I think it's done very well, knowing heavy topics can be so clichéd. No, this brilliant. I've been here before. I know how this feels, and reading it to a T is mildly horrifying. That's how you know the writing is impressive.
Paul is a very skilled writer and I think he deserves some thanks and roses for noticing whatever it is you describe Riddler's problems as.
His problems... I would describe it as untreated severe C-PTSD, and autism, with psychotic elements... what do you think? I get C-PTSD from the way he acts in general and what he has been through... autism from all of the context clues (his boss calls him rain man, he loves sorting things and has an obsession with something from childhood he has never dropped even if it may be seen as shallow or childish, he seems to experience meltdowns and he even used to have trouble speaking as a child.) The psychotic symptoms (could not tell you what type it is attributing to) I got from Subic's art style and the... well, this one is quite obvious :D
Severely underrated and undermarketed comic with beautiful, trippy artwork that makes you see the Riddler in a completely different and far more tragically realistic light.
I think that's all really smart. C-PTSD, while it's not actually something I'm very familiar with, probably isn't off, as it's shown he has a lot of trauma and issues from his childhood. You asked me what I think, and I appreciate your thoughtfulness! I think he has some Obsessive Compulsive Disorder issues like people I know in real life, which is something that the Riddler in general is mentioned to have. I too think he could very well have autism. I've seen some traits of his shared by autistic people I know in real life, so it would make sense to me. One of my guesses would also be that he has depression. Seeing the way his days just kind of blend together in KTMJ, how every day seemed like a loop of "just breathe, Edward" and nothing really seemed to get better despite the way he tried to indulge in self-help and calming techniques. I noticed a detail earlier on in the book where he's lying in his bed and there's just a whole stack of dirty dishes piling out of the sink. It's a common depressive thing to not be able to do things like self-care or cleaning. Those are my thoughts, it's pretty fun talking about him, even if my knowledge about some mental stuff is limited, so I appreciate you reposting and asking me stuff. It's a great piece of art that I think can speak to a lot of troubled people that might find themselves in similar situations to his.
Hello, people of Gotham, everything about this page hurts my feelings.
I'm guessing he bites his hands as a result of his stress and anxiety, like chewing nails but more intense. How could this city spit in the face of someone so fragile and small? How could it continuously do so? This whole read, so far, has mostly been one elongated sigh going "Poor Edward. This is terrible." to say the least. It's been compelling from start to current (I haven't finished it yet), and very somber in ways that make perfect sense.
That also makes me think of the line from Serial Experiments Lain: "Why is it, why do I have to feel your body heat? Is there no escaping you?"

For a realistically disturbing (and impressively captivating) villain, he's quite adorable in appearance.
He's like that one dumb meme "If dangerous, why friend-shaped?"
Paul's Riddler looks like a puppy
He, quite literally, got puppy-dog-eyed when he saw Batman. Aww.
