honestly there are multiple like the olympic shift and stick gate 1 and 2, but for me, what sends me absolutely crazy, makes me scream and cry and freak the fuck out, is the smelling salts. the smelling salts ritual just feels so intimate and special. the fact mack does not do it for himself, but did for a little present for will. mack has had multiple chnaces to grab the salts first, but no, will has to be the one to hold them.

did this start in a practice session? did they do it as a one off and it became a superstition? why does will have to hold them? does he need the control or does mack need him to take that control? what feeling does it give them? other then the wake up?

to lean in and be so close and with so many people around so many cameras, knowing is everyone is watching them, but that moment is just for them!

i know the mack having friends anon didn’t ask for a randoms’ two cents haha but i thought i’d add a little to your good answer: will has generally been able to keep the same group close in his life while mack’s is a bit scattered, which is why will continues to be a lot more public/proactive friendship wise with all the trips, pics/posts, etc. mack comparatively, like you said, has moved around a lot, so we don’t see the same things, or he may not get to do the same things as often. all of which lends to the narrative that he keeps good friends but sorta in a different/private/chill way at this point

+ correct me if i’m wrong, but outside of bedard it would seem will is also closer to mack’s level than his other friends/former teammates which contributes to things too. it’s always about the hockey ofc! the fact that wm are locked in for a long time, producing on the same line, in the show together, makes things very special/secure. i had a friend who bounced around the states throughout school and it really does make things hard and dissimilar to how others socialize

100% agree! mack’s friends other than a few have made it to the nhl yet hopefully, even his brother hasn’t yet, obvs a few have but they are in teams not too close to san jose or even in the same division! i didn’t even think of that 🤯

I'm still relatively new to the willmack lore and have noticed many people here say that Mack didn't have good friends before Will. But then there is info that he used to have a best friend in every place he lived in. So I wonder why it seems to be part of the lore that Will is his first real friend when it's not really true?

i think it’s mostly for rpf purposes, but! i would say it’s more so the differences in mack and will’s friendships that makes people focus on it. for example will has played with ryan leonard since he was a kid and mostly stayed in boston teams as a junior, but mack moved around more and had to change teams which we assume made it harder to make friends.

but mack very much has friends! and still has those friends from all the teams he has played on! people often say will might be the closest or bestest friend he has ever had, if you look through my posts using the #macklin celebrini has friends you’ll see my posts on the matter!

Who do you think is more likely to keep working in/around the NHL after they retire between the two?

great question! first, i don't see either of them necessarily going into broadcasting, neither of them really have the personality for it. look at biz, he played like crap but has the personality to entertain everyone despite that! but i could see them doing it every now and again! i could see will going into coaching, but personally i do not see mack doing that. will i feel is more likely to stay around in the nhl, but it could be both or neither, i think we have to wait and see what players like crosby and mackinnon do when they retire, mack i feel will do the same!

my wish is for them to take the mantle from marleau and jumbo with the sharks! coaching or development or maybe even something higher up, as long as they are together and with the sharks, i will die happy!

i agree with you! i respect other people’s interpretations, but i do find it weird that people insist that when mack follows a bunch of girls on insta it’s because he’s a whore and when will follows a bunch of girls on insta it’s because he’s performatively trying to pretend to be straight. it could be the other way around! it could be neither. will’s too frat boy coded for me to not hc him as a bit of a manwhore with women because that’s way more fun for me (and he has some insane insta runs which is fun for the narrative), but again its all in good fun and fake and people can hc it how they want

Do you think gay Will // bi Mack is accurate or do you have a different read?

i understand gay will / bi mack bcs mack we know had a girlfriend for a while and will has never had a confirmed relationship/girlfriend, but i do usually write bi for bi bcs it just makes more sense to me, like we can't deny will has been seen with and following a ton of girl

knowing will's personality i would honestly say will is a fellow pansexual, he is just so charming and charismatic, everyone loves him and he loves everyone

if not bi for bi then will sleeping with girls just bcs it makes people less sus or trying to make himself think he likes girls. but i do see the gay will stance, i have just never written them that way really
