was watching evil dead burn (great movie plz watch) when an idea popped up in my head.. *smirks*
we all know sadie got horrifically burned by apophis in ch.2 of serpents shadow, but we never truly get an update later on or even information as to how grave and who bandaged her while she was dead.
it just dawned on me, i know im very late, that the bandages used to wrap her hands are most probably clean mummy linen summoned by walt, courtesy of anubis, with his death power (anubis probably gave the idea as well). we don’t know whether or not the bandages had healing properties or magical properties but since they come from anubis own magic, its safe to assume it has death-related magical properties.
im getting to it bear with me here.
so what if when her hands were wrapped with the mummy linen, it hurried the process of preserving the tissue and area the same way that’s done with mummies but left her hands permanently mummified?
like the moment sadie takes off her bandages (mind u she didn’t get any help from the medic wing aka jaz because she completely overlooked her situation) all she sees is her own hands, completely mummified, possibly even bones slightly protruding outwards.
absolutely horrific and terrifying yet perfect for subplot.
of course since this is magic, her hand could still move as normal, it wouldn’t break but it definitely isn’t gonna be like any regular hand. probably stiffer, extremely low in sensitivity, barely any sensation, and horrifying to look at
people who act like walt isn’t described as fourteen years old multiple times in the series piss me off. like y’all would rather use the one inconsistency of him being sixteen just to not ship him with sadie.
its truly mindboggling how illiterate the fandom is in regards to the ages and maturity. and how people try to hide their racism behind this
Percy: It's okay. *Pulls out a clay figure.* I think I might have an alternative.
Frank: What is that?
Percy: I'm not sure. *Throws the clay figure on the ground.*
*Clay figure transforms into Sadie*
Hazel + Frank: AAAAAAH!!!
Sadie: Greetings, twerps! I am-
Percy: Can you deliver a message for me?
Sadie: ...what?
Percy: Can you deliver a message for me? It's really important. It's for Annabeth. Please.
Sadie: Percy, I know you have amnesia but genuinely, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Percy: Uhh...
Sadie: I am a Shabti, as in, a near-perfect replica of the real Sadie Kane, one of the most powerful magicians in the world. I was given to you to use in case of an emergency. I could fight a god for you if that's what you needed. But no, instead, you want me to deliver a message for you. Do you realise what a huge waste this is?!
Percy: I'm sorry, but-
Sadie: Shut it! The fact that you summoned me for this and not Carter is just sand in the wound.
pjo/hoo fans, listen to me. *shakes you* listen to me. read the kane chronicles. read it. have you read it? read it again. i mean it. there's other reasons, but the main one is that i'm out here making genious posts about tkc, and there's so few people to appreciate my massive brain.
reasons you might want to read tkc:
narrated by two different characters. the framing device is that it's being audio recorded, and you can often see snippets of them being like "don't look at me like that sadie" or "carter just kicked me for saying that"
the god tier character that is sadie kane. she's so in touch with her emotions and unafraid to express them, it's refreshing. she's only 13 in the beginning of the trilogy, and she's so ready to tell people off for being pricks. she chews bubblegum and dyes her hair and she's even british. makes fun of her brother. consistently the funniest character in the series, all while not losing impact as a dramatic figure
the gods are seen really differently than in rr's other books. in pjo, the gods are these all-powerful beings and we mustn't anger them. in tkc, they're your buds. your parents have probably had a fistfight in an applebees parking lot with at least two gods. you see a god for drinks every thursday.
gods literally inhabit the human character's bodies, it's like a venom situation. it makes up for some very funny moments.
where pjo/toa is about acknowledging your family has problems and at times, you're fully right to distance yourself from them, because they're horrible people, tkc is about reconnecting with your family again. it's about finding stability in your family, and how they're, in the end, always the ones that are left there for you
incredibly interesting magic system. they have infrastructure built all over the world. not just two wands (rather a wand and a staff) but also a whole magician's kit.
cast is near-entirely made up of people of colour. two main characters that are both mixed, and the series focuses on how their different appearances affect how people treat them. the magicians are mostly descendants of egyptian rulers
