I have some THOUGHTS about @brooklyn-house's norse!tkc au...

I'm assuming the kane kids died in the explosion and wound up in valhalla, while julius was taken to hel because of the insanely specific valhalla rules. valhalla's warriors, of course, are huge fans of the kanes bc of how insanely powerful they are, but being, yknow, kids, carter and sadie aren't huge fans of all these expectations

amos probably breaks into valhalla to fetch his niece and nephew like how he comes to get them at sadie's house in tkc, I just really like that idea

I'm considering how zia would fit into this. desjardins could be one of the thanes potentially, but zia is pretty young, and are they dead or not? I kind of like the idea of them being a valkyrie, and since that's a women-only position it can cause some interesting drama once he transitions and/or once he realizes that loki may be his father

I also really love the idea of sadie and perhaps zia (or maybe amos?) as rune users. I just feel like it would 1) fit their stories and 2) be sick as hell. plus one of the rules of being a rune user is you have to have undergone great suffering and I think they fit the bill lmao

this is just a very fun au with a lot of interesting things to build on and now I really want to reread tkc

i wasn’t ever too fond of larmina’s “joining the voltron force and getting a lion because she’s royalty” theme (and the fact allura has no siblings to get a niece from), but one of the first things the tie-in comics did was heavily imply allura might be her “aunt” through adoption rather than blood. that not only explains how she can exist in the first place, but also why she’s so obsessed with arus as the pinnacle of everything good in the universe and so eager to defend it.

i don’t know how canon the comics are considered (she’s certainly referred to the castle tombs’ occupants as “my ancestors” in the cartoon), but this perspective makes me like larmina a lot better! maybe she’s not a cliché “cool kid who gets everything for no reason past being related to a main character”, maybe she’s a foundling child adopted into the arusian royal family who came to voltron by something between pure chance and destiny, and wants to give the planet back everything it’s given her.
