how could you like the colour yellow
see a therapist immediately
I actually used to hate it! Like, actually despise it! Yellow was too bright, too loud, discordant, unruly, and clashed with everything. Nothing like what I wanted in my life, nothing I wanted to be.
When I first moved away from home, everything I owned was black. Jet back. As black as I could get. Smooth, cool, sleek, discrete, calm, unassuming. Flexible, cohesive, agreeable black. Fashionable black.
I had a really, really bad time. Unrelated to the decor. It was my first year out of a toxic place I'd grown used to my whole life, my first year acknowledging a mental illness I'd believed to be normal, my first year fending for myself with very little money or sleep or companionship.
I'd grown up on instant white rice and unseasoned ground beef. One day I realized that everything I'd been raised on tasted like cardboard. While out on an assignment, I passed a tent with a woman selling spices, and bought myself some turmeric. I went home and tried making curry with it. It was so yellow.
Another time, my professor took us out to a modern art gallery. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but when we got there, the whole building had been painted bright sunshine yellow.
The artist's theme was "happiness".
What it is. How we make it. How to share it.
All bright, lovely yellow.
The house I grew up in was beige. The walls were white. The appliances were post 9/11 stainless steel. My job was to be quiet, compliant, presentable and agreeable.
Black goes with everything. Black is neutral. Black is quiet, reserved, elegant and mysterious.
Yellow is warm. Yellow does what it wants. Yellow tastes sweet and spicy and hot and cool, like a summer breeze, like sunflower petals, powdery like dust on a long dirt road and soothing like well-worn linen.
I still like the look of black. I like the look of most colors. But I like the way that Yellow makes me feel.
Do you understand?
Holy mother of curb theory those are GOOD
See what happens when we do things for disabled people? We get shot like this that's just better for *everyone* AND accommodates for wheelchair users
WIP of another ballpoint drawing. I am really starting to love drawing with pens. There isn't really any room for mistakes so it's challenging but also it's the cheapest medium when u can literally use $2 kids pens 😆 Really happy with how this one is turning out, I was scared to try colours again but I'm starting to get the hang of it!
Sorry for the lack of posting!! Schedules have been crazy and me AND Wen are stressed.
Im here to share somethings we've been working on and things I've noticed about Wen's behavior!
Wen is an absolute ANGEL out in public, and she is totally engaged in what is happening and will happen next. She's so much better than when I first got her, and I see SO much potential in her. However, when we get home and she knows she's off training duty and not training, she can be a complete (controlled) menace. She loves to argue and grumble when I tell her to do/ not to do something, but ends up doing it anyways. She also loves to chew on her brother's ankles and start ankle biting rumbles because L likes to play the ankle chewing game as well.
Since our schedules and routines have been fucked, Wen and I have been more anxious, which means we've been getting frustrated with each other easier. Luckily, we realize when to give each other space and we continue training when we are ready to engage peacefully.
We've been mostly working on commands we know, but she's now been learning pressure and some new behavior interruptions for her SD tasks! We've also been training her around my grandmother, so we've been working on house guest manners, which she's never worked on.
Here's a pic of my Girl!

"Fake Service Dog" videos
I'm gonna be blunt here: they suck
I see so many "fake service animal compilation" videos on YouTube and I've watched maybe one or two of them, and I want to say:
THEY ARE HARMFUL TO THE SERVICE DOG COMMUNITY
why did he have to be a raven…it could be tic tac crow…
Ugh, they totally just let that damn cockatoo win??? wtf??
This is Martita! Martita is a very happy, energetic Siberian Husky just over a year an… Meghan Bortscheller needs your support for Help
This is Martita, and she needs your help!
Her kneecap has moved out of the joint, and soon, she won’t be able to use the leg at all without surgery.
If you have a few extra dollars to spare, please consider helping her! Or sharing this link so that her story can reach more people ❤️
My friend is trying so hard to help her family’s dog, but she can’t do it alone. Any little bit helps
I'm gonna get a service dog! I am working with a small organization and between 18 months and 2 years I hope to have a service dog ready to be placed with me, trained to help with a whole bunch of disabilities (we've discussed plans for tasks for chronic migraine, EDS, MCAS, adrenal insufficiency, autism). This will make a big difference for me and I'm super looking forward to it. I am really excited about this even knowing its so far off in the future. Of course this means right now I need to do fundraising 'cause I need to fund the training of my future service dog. Any donations or shares would be super appreciated. As someone living on SSI yet also someone who a service dog would be life changing for navigating making sure that my dog is funded is an unfortunately big stressor in the excitement of future help. Hi, I'm a queer, disabled crafter, and my knitting shop/kofi page right here is my sole source of income. It really isn't much. Mutual aid is needed for my basic expenses.
have always found it immensely odd/frustrating when I see people who refuse to use any sort of physical force to control their dog. by which I do NOT mean hitting obv, but like: if the dog is standing rigid on the sidewalk barking at something and the owner is just standing there next to it, lightly tugging the leash but nothing more. or a small dog that’s lunging and pulling towards another dog and the owner is just, again, walking placidly behind it. or a dog that’s laying down on the sidewalk bc it wants to pounce on an oncoming dog and the owner won’t touch it. Etc you get the picture.
like goddamn dude it’s a dog. It’s on a leash. Fucking move them. why are you letting yourself get pulled around by a 20lb doodle?? sure ask nicely first but shortening the leash and yanking them back to you is not going to hurt them and in fact is what you need to do if your animals being a nuisance in public. Jesus.
A note on this... I agree to a point. When they're throwing their small dogs around on purpose, it's animal cruelty. If you're pulling your dog to the point that they're flying around all the time on purpose, it's abuse. I've made the mistake of accidentally tugging on the leash too hard before and accidentally whipped my baby's body around, which I learned from. Basic training is CRUCIAL for especially reactive dogs.
It's a thin line that you need to watch, because if your dog is lunging and barking, YES you need to pull them away from the person or the dog, but the best action is to walk out of the area of distraction and to grab attention. Don't rely solely on pulling the dog away, because it can make the problem worse. I did that when I first got Wen, and she ended up becoming more reactive than she was before. She was frustrated and her drive was up to get wherever she was going. Now I seldom have to pull her away from anything, a simple command or hand movement has her focusing on me because she knows it makes me less agitated and she knows she'll get rewarded from it.
