Safe to say Charles returned the favour by telling their parents that Phillip was sleeping over with him after the party. Having rooms on a whole different floor than their parents sure has its benefits...

After bribing his sister by agreeing to owe her one, Delaney helped trick their parents into believing that she was having a sleepover with Serena so that the lovebirds could spend a night together.

Safe to say, it went well.

Although Serena's family are not nearly as traditional as Phillip's, Charles has been doing everything he can to avoid a similar situation with his relationship.

This is not to say that he doesn't love Serena, but with the current events with his family and the underlying uncertainty, he doesn't want to bring Serena into it.

Serena's parents are new money, being an actress and musician and although they are wealthy in their own right, it's very different from the Haylofts and the Oakensteads for example.

Unlike Phillip and Delaney, who both have sizeable trusts, in order to maintain his lifestyle, Serena would have to rely on Charles which creates a very different dynamic. Providing for his wife is something that Charles didn't take lightly, and the responsibility of marrying the heir of an estate wasn't something to be looked down upon either.

And for that reason, he wanted to take things slower than his sister.

Soleil aged up with great temperance from being raised by her owner from a foal and was able to be entered into competitions quite quickly.

She hasn't won any Gold medals yet but is doing amazing and Delaney is having the best time raising and training her horse 🤍

Although Charles was surprised by the news, he couldn't say it was unexpected

Charles had always admired his older brother for walking to the beat of his own drum and could never picture him giving up his passions. In addition to this, Charles could tell that his father's pleadings with him to study the broader Computer Science, rather than game development meant something.

So although he was surprised, he wasnt really caught off guard.

Without much convincing he accepted the rle of heir and the conversations moved on to logistics.

In order to give both he, and his brother as much time as possible, the news would be announced in the summer, following Charles's graduation at a ball held at the Oakenstead Estate in Willow Creek.

All of High Society would be attending and Charles would be expected to make a speech.

The importance of reassuring the masses of the solidity of the Oakenstead Estate would be paramount and this would be Charle's first impression as the heir to the world.
