Connor was like that annoying fly in your room that you constantly saw buzzing around but could never quite catch long enough to squash. And heâd been like that ever since Auroraâs sophomore year. He was always in the same hallway as her, always near her locker, and always passing by her lunch table. But he was never there long enough for Aurora to berate him for his less than subtle stalker techniques. It was, to say the least, beyond infuriating. The buzzing around never stopped, not even when Aurora would flat-out reject his advances before heâd even finish his first sentence. She was constantly trying to squash him but he always kept coming back, buzzing around her in an indignant reminder of his determination. At first, Aurora was amused by the boyâs presence and slightly flattered that sheâd gotten a senior to take such notice of her. But months into Connorâs seemingly never-ending mission to bother her whenever possible, Aurora became bewildered by the fact that he'd yet to give up, almost impressed by his persistence. In the end, it was a surprise to everyone that Aurora finally gave in and finally began to participate in the, up until then, mostly one-sided friendship. And she pretended to be just as shocked about her actions as everyone else, but in truth, Aurora didnât find herself that surprised that sheâd finally stopped trying to squash that stupid fly. However, this was the first outing they'd actually gone out on alone. And as a teenage girl, of course Aurora put more thought into the movie night than needed. She spent fifteen frustrating minutes contemplating her make out lip gloss that tasted like cake batter or just plain 'ole chapstick. She then proceeded to stomp around her room in an irritated manner, completely mystified by the fact that sheâd just intentionally tried to pretty herself up for Connor of all people. But it wasnât all her fault, it was completely normal for her to wanna get all dolled up for a date. Connor, annoyingly enough, had never actually specified if thatâs what this was, though. Which left the ball in her court, in a way, because her stressing over it made the question of â whether or not she wanted this to be a date â hang over her head like an unwanted thought bubble. And in an unsurprising turn of events, the night had took a turn for the worst seeing as Aurora had out right embarrassed herself in front of a theater full of people. And Connor. Stupid fly. "Aurora is the name of the mythical goddess of the dawn, you dickshit. Sleeping beauty, y'know? It's a hell of a lot more impressive and elegant than "Rory". But the childish nickname is still more acceptable than "dude", I suppose. I don't think I could stop you from calling me Rory, anyways. As annoyingly stubborn as you are." She lifted her gaze from the floor, lolling her head to one side and facing Connor with an unusually tentative smile. "I know it doesn't make much sense. And it's not like I've got mommy issues, trust me. It started out with trying constantly to impress Lily but that childhood hobby became a full on obsession of just... needing people to like me. Or at least pay attention to me." She shrugged her own shoulders, heavily slumping against the wall. "This definitely isn't an appropriate topic for a movie..." She trailed off, slightly flustered as she tried to find a word to describe the evening, "Move night-- Thing, whatever." For the first time that evening, a quiet laugh tumbled from her lips, the sound surprising her momentarily. "Say Yes to the Dress marathon will be needed next time then. You can see me and all my red faced, snotty nose glory once again. It'll be a fantastic time, I assure you." Her smile was still gracing her features, finally reaching her now slightly less puffy eyes. She nodded once, leaning up off against the wall just as he did. She eyed his offered arm warily before pulling his arm towards her and slipping her purse off her shoulder and onto his. Her smile fell easily enough into her usual mischievous smirk. "What a gentlemen." She cooed as she walked past him towards the exit, swaying her hips purposefully.
