KELEBEK: Hello folks, we’re here with a super special guest tonight, none other than Officer Flora, one of the sweetest Entmatons I know out there for both guiding around larvae and busting Entomaton farming schemes, and also totally not because we’re dating or anything! So, ma’am, do you mind telling us more about yourself, and what you do~?
FLORA: Hello, hello! I’m Officer Flora, but you don’t need to keep my title. As Kelebek said, I guide younglings around and work as a sort of cop and guard.
KELEBEK: So, tell us why do you do both at once?
FLORA: Lawbugs have the most scent-sitive antennae out of all Entomatons! It’s just a duty we’re shifted around on, but I stayed because it’s fun guiding newbies around! And, to an outsider, our HQ might look kind of like a mess, but you just aren’t sniffing the place right! Us Entomatons use pheromones to navigate, not just our eyes. We have a really strong sense of smell for these things, and other stuff too, like food. We can even tell down a classification what kind of bacteria our cheeses are made with just from a few whiffs! But some of our larvae haven’t figured out what smells mean what yet, and I’m one of the bugs they’ve put on board to keep em’ safe and teach ‘em what different smells mean until they get their stingers working.
KELEBEK: Most, if not all insects use pheromones too! They ARE pretty much a language, a language of smell, and even more...
FLORA: Haha, I know, right? But I also do investigative work on Entomaton farming schemes, which is when cogs steal our grubs and use certain pheromones to keep them in a docile state like farm animals and overload them with food and growth chemicals for meat which then is sold off as crustacean meat. This is highly illegal, and kinda messed up, because y’know, we’re sentient. There’s a boom of them in the spring, preparing for summer: lobster and crab season. So be wary buying seafood from cogs you don’t know!
KELEBEK: Thank you for your time, Flora!! Be sure to join us again next time on INTERVIEW TIME for more neat Entomatons! If you send in some questions for Flora, she might just answer them too!
