❝ exactly. ❞ he doesn’t mean to sound bitter, but the bluntness in her tone burns him, sends an ache through his bones that has him releasing her hand. ❝ who are you to judge, you were the one ended whatever we had. ❞ he had been so confused when suddenly she wasn’t there. he doesn’t mean for his words to be harsh, but perhaps it’s the pain still lingering behind them.
his tone was harsh , much expected considering the circumstances. she did not want to sound possessive, or jealous as she had no right to be, but she was. ❝ i do not judge, you can choose how to live your life. ❞ she sighed, shaking her head. ❝ i did? perhaps speak to your loyal friend about how I chose to end it. ❞ she spoke bitterly, but out of turn, going silent for a moment and avoiding his gaze.
he's wracked with confusion, his agitation quelling as he steps forward, closer into her space as if it were the only way he could actually find a breath. ❝ your words sound otherwise. ❞ he mutters, brows creased as he peers down to her. ❝ loyal friend, arthur, what the hell has he got to do with us ? with what we had. ❞ he doesn't let her get away with not meeting his gaze, a fingers hooks beneath her chin. ❝ did he do something to you ? ❞ he knows that's not in arthurs nature, but yet this was beatrice, he needed to know that she was okay.
