Laurent Michaels | Deep Space Investigations, Delta Quadrant Division | 30 [Human] | TAKEN | Jesse Plemons
☆ Friendly, Loyal, Observant
★ Unempathetic, Stoic, Daft
Laurent was born on Starbase A20 to Captain of the Starbase and her affair, the ship’s Medical yeoman. His mother’s husband, Admiral Michaels, was not fooled by the paternal roots of this newly born albino child, and swiftly took custody of the boy with little rebuttal from the disgraced Captain. Michaels raised his new son on a separate Starbase in the Delta Quadrant, taking his son on multitudes of diplomatic missions and in the care of a nanny whom took the place as Laurent’s mother.
Laurent grew up with the finest schooling money could buy, and a very deep love of Starfleet. He was a strange and very childish boy, told that he had quite the eye for marksmanship while remaining far behind his classmates in academics and social interaction. Laurent’s nanny was a constant pressure that fully blossomed into abuse as he grew into teenager hood. It was only when Admiral Michaels visited with his son in the two year gap between missions of Alpha and Delta communications did he see the bruises on his son’s face, ribs and legs. Michaels swiftly fired the nanny of fifteen years and took his very peculiar son with him to Earth.
There, Laurent showed no outward signs of trauma. Happy as always, he was deemed clinically stable and capable of perusing a track in the Starfleet Academy (to his father’s relief). Laurent, however, took seven years to complete the academy, with four failings of the Kobayashi Maru and flunking space sciences. It was through his high marks on physical, marksmanship and relentless attention to minute details and patterns, that Laurent was finally placed on the federal detective track at Starfleet. Laurent, despite his misgivings as a new private, showed years of relentless dedication and loyalty to his admirals and command, and has proved to be valuable in investigation of deep space crimes. Laurent is currently interested in the happenings of the flagship the U.S.S. Enterprise and will do whatever he can to ensure its continued ethical flight in space - under the right management, of course.
Laurent has made quite a few friends on the U.S.S. Enterprise. He is fond of first officer Spock and the Vulcan’s similar dedication to Starfleet. Laurent also enjoys the company of the helmsman Jesús Olivera, the navigator Pavel Chekov, translator Jocelyn Treadway and yeoman Tonia Barrows. He is suspicious of a number of people on the ship, namely those with a shady past in Starfleet or those particularly close to the cargo crimes he is investigating. He is suspicious particularly of the odd medic Jude Isley, the Captain Jim Kirk, the CMO Leonard McCoy and of course the CoS Daniel Hadley.
