Hi! I'm Claudia, I'm 19 and I've been fencing epee for 5 years (I also fenced foil for a little while but epee is my primary weapon)

fencing should be gay because it involves swords but it's actually homophobic because due to silly little things like health and safety considerations you have to wear a full body jacket instead of a loose white shirt with half the buttons undone to show a tasteful glimpse of chest and a mask that protects your eyes but prevents you from homoerotically gazing into your opponent's as you cross blades

duelling, on the other hand, is gay because there's no dress code so you can be as homoerotic as you like, and it's also illegal, meaning it satisfies the legendary commandment to "be gay, do crime"

Why is Fencing so heavily associated with LGBTQA+? I mean, they right, my team is probably like 20% straight 80% Not Straight TM, but I’m so curious where the association started. Thoughts?

Huh, I just realized that I did know 2 people on my high school’s fencing team who were bi. Maybe it’s part of the whole thing where we kind of gravitate towards each other? Anyways, fencing is the official lgbt sport now.
