Wanting To Be Loved
((Is it okay for me to post half-baked ideas?? lolol
Anyways I sorta had an idea for an a/b/o series?? Either short stories for the characters or one-shots?? but idk, the idea was there but my brain said no more. I think I need to break it up into parts>:/
might change the title later- and add more to this to make it into a oneshot ))
↬ Character: A!Jade Leech, GN!O!Reader (reader will be half-mer/fae), stalking, one-sided fluff??, character study, obsession, manipulation, reader is oblivious, forced bond pair
Forming a bond took the upmost dedication- as omegas were the only ones who were able to form one with the beta or alpha of their choosing- which was the reason why many took their time to woo and court the omega they liked. This first method usually resulted in multiple courters to go against one another, providing the most lavish gifts to an omega, and basically one-upping each other with no guarantee the omega they were after would choose them.
At least, that was the normal thing to do... For some, taking a much slyer approach to forming a bond was the only solution.
*******************************************************************
Jade had never felt the spark of attraction to anyone. The feeling of his heart fluttering, stomach doing flips and flops, usual cold skin warming up, and mouth feeling like it was full of seaweed was foreign to him. Those were just things he heard others – even Floyd at times- describe what a ‘crush’ felt like. At first, he thought there was something wrong about him. Not feeling a sense of desperation when faced with omegans.
Sure he could smell the unique scents of others fine. He could immediately identify their second sex with ease. But, alas, the innate ability to be attracted to an another just didn’t appear to be there. Unlike Floyd, who unfortunately became riled up at just at the slight scent of an omega. The natural instinct to show off and appeal was strong. Abnormally so, their doctor had said when their parents had taken him to get checked. Ending with his poor brother taking stronger suppressants to control his second gender.
Their parents would joke that Floyd took all the alpha traits when they were still in the egg.
Despite that, Jade found himself thankful to not be easily swayed by anyone. Glad that unlike others, his alpha instincts were weak. From what he had read after taking the secondary gender class before coming to NRC, was that mers, beast men, and fae alike had far stronger instincts to mate with an omega. Something he thought was an undesirable trait… Even a curse.
Which is why he’s caught off guard one day.
By who?
Why you of course.
Seashells a' Shining (Part 4)
↬ Character: Floyd Leech, Mershark!Reader stalking, fluff, worldbuilding, character study, obsession
(Just realized this but Reader will have default traits. They are a Tiger/Leopard Shark Mix, They have a set of likes/dislikes, They are somewhat short just a bit taller than Riddle, and they have a unique magic)
(( ))
You find yourself in a rather… horrible predicament as you’re cornered by a few of your dormmates. They were angrily waving about pieces of paper and shouting about how you lied didn’t hold the end of the bargain with them. What was the bargain? Simple. In exchange of not having to work any shifts at the Monstro, you did homework for others. Why? Again, simple reason, you already helped at your family’s business back at home. Certainly, you didn’t want to work while attending school. That’s lame! You’re here for a good time, obviously.
Which was why you began offering to do homework for others. Slaving away at copious amounts of papers… With a special ink that you personally made during potions class one day, of course. Nothing ever good came without a price to pay- as said by your family multiple times throughout your life.
“We all got in trouble because of you!”
“Professor Crewel gave me an essay on why turning blank work in isn’t acceptable!”
“Trein had me stay behind class for extra lessons because of the wrong answers!”
“Technically, I never did say I would answer the questions correctly or leave them on there. Copying’s against the rules you know?” You state with a shake of your head with a mock shrug. “You guys just made that assumption on your own, you bottomfeeders.”
There was really nothing wrong with tweaking the agreement you made with anyone who wanted your help. The ink that you made that vanished or changed the answer to a wrong one once the papers were turned in? Not your problem. Just theirs. After all, hard work pays off in the end… Or in your case, being cunning.
A chorus of disagreement echo in the empty hall as they throw their crumpled papers to the floors. A mixture of pens and arms in the air as they readily begin their attack on you. Your lips stretch to a grin, revealing the pointed teeth you hated so much. Eyebrows downturned, eyes crescent as you bring your own pen out. A little fight here in there was great and compared to what happened the other day with Floyd, you much preferred this one.
“Bellies up!” You shout the words to your unique magic.
Just like that, the group of males become stiff, falling all around you onto their backs. Unable to move. You chuckle as you look at them before clearing your throat. Covering your much disliked smile until it went away. Not the offensive type of magic you thought you’d get, Bellies Up was a defensive type. Causing anyone around you to immediately become paralyzed and exposing the most venerable part of their bodies. Their stomachs. You usually used this for big groups like this, or for fast prey back at home.
Still, you think, while taking out your phone. Woest you, for not having a cool attack magic like your siblings. But it’ll have to do since you can’t change unique magic. You walk over to one of the males on the floor, placing your foot on his stomach and giving it a harsh step. Pressing record as you do so with a smirk.
“My my, what a shame for my fellow dormmates to be found in… a defenseless state.”
~**~
You enter your room, rolling your shoulders before flopping onto your bed. Groaning as you rub your face into your pill- Wait, hold on. You lift your head up, scrunching your face as you lightly sniff it. Weird. It doesn’t smell like it usually smells…. Whatever, you were probably super tired from everything that happened. With a small shrug you flip onto your back, cuddling the pillow as you reflected your day.
Classes were great. You talked to your family for a bit during lunch. You may have eaten a bird or two… Out of curiosity of course! Made sure those unruly guppys from earlier knew who the boss was. May have even recorded them in unflattering positions… For future reminders of course… And now! You get to rest a bit before doing homework. You squeal into the feather filled pillow, rolling side to side from pure happiness.
As you settle on your side, facing the night stand next to your bed, your eyes zero in on something new. It’s a new seashell! In the back of your mind, you question how it got there, but its quickly forgotten as you snatch it up. The shell was beautiful! It was spiraled with two tones to it that made it almost hypnotic. Turning it side to side. With all the seashells decorating your room- courtesy of your family and the ones you found lying around- you wonder if you had accidentally left it there. Or had it fallen from the seashell chime that hung over the bed.
“Hehe, you’re going in my cool collection.”
Yay, someone requested Ruggie in your event! May I also request Ruggie for #4?

prompt #4: They slept in the same bed for reasons but now he was waking up and there’s something about their bleary eyes and mussed hair (ft. ruggie bucchi)
gender neutral! reader, includes book 3 plot spoilers, 600 follower event ficlet
author's note: OK SO I MESSED UP- i have two ruggie reqs for the event n i started writing one thinking that it was the first one...but i was wrong... *cries* but that's okay ^^ i hope you have fun reading some blushy hyena content bc i was mentally crying at how cute ruggie was while writing this aaaa
Sleep was important to Ruggie. So when he opened his eyes because of the sudden chill that hit him, he felt robbed of his precious minutes of sleep. Savanaclaw wasn't the coldest place to be, but nighttime brought about cooler temperatures that had the hyena curling up under his blankets.
And currently, his blankets were not around him. A whine lodged into his throat as he sleepily pried open his eyes in search of his blanket. He turned, only to be half-scared to death as the Prefect's peaceful face came into view.
Ruggie's heart started beating so wildly as he basically jumped backward right into his wall. What were they….? Little pieces of lucidity started to return to him amidst the sleepy haze. Right. They had that deal with Azul and their dorm was being seized. And his housewarden had pushed the responsibility of their temporary quarters onto him. Which led to their current arrangement.

(( Part 4))
((Thank you for reading! I'm still getting used to 2nd pov and back into writing. So for me its still feels wonky lol))
After a days’ worth of whimsical fun in the small bordering woods behind the botanical gardens of the school; You find yourself on the ground with frumpled clothing that had blotches of brown and green from all the tumbling you did. The tips of your fingers stained with dirt from digging in random places. Your face covered in scratches ranging from short to long from accidentally tripping or lunging into trees while chasing land creatures.
Now, you felt more pensive than usual as you lay on the earthy floor, bathing in small rays of light that peeked through the long limbs of the trees. The warmth reminding you of home. Namely the moments where you would find a smooth patch of sand near the reef and laze about among the seaweed grass that was scattered around. Sometimes preying on unsuspecting mers or fish that would pass by. Yes, this felt like that… But also, not like that. Maybe this was better to put into a sense.
What that better was, was still a mystery. Like a ghost of a wave on the beach. The thought was there but impossible to acknowledge its meaning. No worries, you’ll figure it out eventually. In the meantime, you begin comparing ocean and land environment. Doing your best to piece together what was similar and what was completely different! What you enjoyed, disliked, or still needed time to figure out how you felt about certain things.
You like the softness of grass especially the way it made your skin tickle. You don’t like the texture of overly fuzzy clothing. You love the gnarly mixture of water and dirt- mud, Ace had mentioned in disgust once, after you dove into a muddy spot after a rainy day. You don’t like gravel after an unfortunate stumble in PE early in the school year. You enjoy the spicy foods offered during lunch- the taste reminds you of eating those stinging sea urchins. You really dislike boiled vegetables, something about the texture just doesn’t swim right with you.
Those were a few things you thought about regularly.
With a sigh your eyes flutter close, simply basking in the moment. Letting your mind relax for brief second. Away from the many thoughts that bubbled up with questions about new things you learned from classes, or from curiosity about the human world. This was nice, you think, lulling to a daze from the sounds around you.
The second you pulled into a near dreamless state, your eyes snap open from a crunching sound. Forgetting which form you’re in, you do a weird flop on the floor. Resembling those blood worms you like messing around with from time to time. This earns you a light laughter coming from behind a tree that’s in front of you. You wonder who exactly was behind the tree as you get up. Dusting the back of your uniform pants with narrowed eyes. The only ones who you interacted with daily were the trio first years- maybe even the occasional upperclassman if you were feeling charismatic.
Or maybe, just maybe, it was another merfolk who had sized you up without you noticing and followed you to this secluded area waiting for you to lower your guard, and wanted a playful fight? Playful? Hah, you inwardly laugh at that thought, you wish. But a fight? Could be possible. But not something you wanted right now since it was a school day off. Oh, woest you for being but a tiny pup and still not having that wonderfully developed prey vs hunter sense that all other mers had. Because you were just a baby- not your word, but your family’s- it flickered on and off without will.
“You should ree~ally pay attention to your surroundings,” A chirp like voice says, “It’s not safe to snooze like that with predators around.”
You raise a brow, just the slightest of confused. No one has ever implied you were ‘prey’. Watching as a looming figure step into the light, practically like a tree himself, as he steps towards you with an open-mouthed grin. Revealing his pointed teeth. For a moment you’re both silent- you taking in every detail of him- trying to pinpoint where you’ve seen him before. Teal hair with a thick black strand to the right? While he simply kept grinning, looking down at you with menacing mismatching eyes. You think it’s neat.
His yellow eye has caught the most of your attention as you compare it to a shiny gem or rock. You really liked things that had a gleam to it. Vaguely you wonder if the black slits of your eyes have shrunk to nothing or a thin line.
Then it hits you.
“Oh! Vice dorm leader? Uh, uh… hold on, I’m none to good at the name game.” You embarrassingly tell him, eyes darting to the side at the sight of a brown land creature. “Azul’s the dorm leader…” Looking up at him again he silently nods, somewhat amused as he huffs a covered snicker. You blurrily recall two looming figures beside him during the dorm introduction for first years. Fade? Jode? Kelp, it was something along those lines. “Then that makes you Joyd?”
‘Joyd’s -what an insanely peculiar yet unique name you think- grin fades to a thin line. Before you could even blink you sidestep at his open armed lunge. Nearly caught in an embrace you knew would hurt. It wouldn’t be the first time you wound up entangled in an eel’s grip. You’d lost a few baby teeth in those scuffles.
“Wro-onng~” Despite the seemingly lighthearted tone, his voice was an octave lower than before. “No Joyd, only Jade and Floyd. Jades the Vice Leader, not me. Get it right, jaws.”
You open your mouth then close it. Face scrunched, scrutinizing the male in front of you. Jaws? What a weird name to be called. Still, it beats what your siblings and friends from home call you. Shrugging you keep a keen eye on him. Noting any movement he made. This really wasn’t how you wanted to spend your day off. Maybe you should have taken Yuu’s offer to hang out at his dorm.
Floyd’s stance relaxes and he goes back to lightly swaying with the grin from earlier. A mischievous glint in his eyes. Again, he lunges at you just as you swiftly dodge again. Albeit almost tumbling backwards. Kelp, you needed to work on precision in your human form.
“Just let me squeeze you.” He complains with a pout before grinning again. “It won’t hurt a bi~it!”
Maybe Yuu and the other two wouldn’t mind you barging in on their movie marathon day. You knew when to pick fights and this one surely ended with you not winning as you began losing the stamina to move away from Floyd’s ridiculously long arms. Annoyed by this odd encounter, you’re about to tell him stop with you notice a glint of something afar behind the towering teen. You have no idea what it could be, but your innate collecting habit takes hold of you.
“Skiiiirrrrrrrt!” You shout as you push him out of your way with all your might, successfully making him fall over.
Like a school of sardine to plankton you book it without a second thought. Leaving behind a very amused teal haired male who stays on the ground, rolling to the spot you had originally been lying in. Closing his eyes and letting out an airy laugh.

(( Part 3 ))
Somehow you finally end up meeting with the first magicless student who resided in a shabby dorm outside the school… something something shamble… How? Well, it started off when their little furry friend spit fire at you during a class together when he got an answer wrong. It was by accident of course. Then you, out of sheer curiosity- not in the act of revenge- grabbed him and tried to take a bite. You never tried what humans called a weasel before. That caused quite a ruckus that ended up with two students from Heartslabyul and the weird human doing their best to separate the two of you.
When all was did and done, the five of you ended up in detention and were tasked- not forced- by Professor Trein to organize all the history books in the library. It was horrible, especially when you decided that you wanted to chew on the books because of the funny smell they had. Which, again, resulted in the human trio preventing you making them even more in trouble.
Apparently, biting things was not acceptable on land.
“Ugh, can’t you not try chewing on everything you see, dude?” Asks the orange-haired male who swipes the book from your hands.
You roll your eyes. “I can’t help it…” You mumble, crossing your arms with a huff of your cheeks.
It’s true, recently your teeth have been achy and itchy, which could be your baby teeth- not because it was a natural instinct, of course - ready to fall out. Oh woest to being a late bloomer… Having the trouble of experiencing puberty with defenseless land beings. It wasn’t your fault they were so fragile.
“Ace stop being mean,” The human, Yuu, says before turning to you with a small smile, “Here you go, it might help.”
He hands you a small square thing-a-mabob and explains what to do. When you place it in your mouth, the black of your eyes take over, leaving little to no pigment behind. The others jump back, ready to defend themselves from an attack. But you don’t do anything except chew on the wonderfully delicious ‘goom’ you have been given. It’s beyond anything you’ve ever tried before!
With that, they send you to sit at one of the tables, giving the excuse that the four are capable of doing everything themselves. Not that you minded, you thought as you sneakily pull out a book from your shirt. It gave you time to see if this goom and the weird flavour of books tasted well together. So, without further ado you proceed with you begin nawing on the book that’s about the history of the great seven.
After a few minutes of simply zoning out, the book destroyed and mixed with the goom, you feel a tingling sensation. Again, it feels like somethings eyes are on you. You look behind you see if it’s the other first years, its not. For a few seconds you watch as the orange haired teen runs around after the not weasel and the other two who are telling them to stop. Shrugging your eyes sweep around the room, noting there was no one else here except the five of you.
“Haha, neat.” You say, throwing the soggy chewed up book behind you as you get up. “Shiny~”
On a shelf, near the doorway something glinted. You made your way to it, lo and behold it was another seashell. Although this time strung together with tiny rocks that glistened slightly. Holding it up, you can’t help but be amazed by the skill of whoever made it… well, not really… but who are you to talk about someone else’s craftmanship? You could barely put the buttons of the uniform in the right hole. Kelp if you can make a necklace. You lightly laugh, stuffing it into your pocket.

(( Part 2 ))
Being a first-year student at Night Raven College had many of its up and downs. For one, learning how to walk on two legs was a bit awkward and ended up with you getting concussions from falling headfirst to the floor…. And maybe a losing few baby teeth that had yet to fallen. Then there was the fact that you literally couldn’t trust anyone in this college. They always had an ulterior motive for some reason that you still tried to understand. The final thing you realized after attending here for a few months of being messed around with by the older students, and practically scared to death by the frightening professors; was the fact that you literally did not fit in in this stupid school.
You had told your family after receiving the forsaken letter that you didn’t want to go there, saying that you should have been sent to RAS. The other academy where you had always wanted to go- kelp, you had done so much research about it since you found out about it. After saying that- you only received humiliating laughter from them and a harsh reality check. Who- in that college- would want an overly tiny sharp-toothed mershark who scared others with a terrifying smile?
Your smile -that you hid a lot when you were but a pup- made you feel so insecure…. Just your overall size as you were the smallest one in your family. Oh, woest you… Just your luck for being tiny mershark with a set of pearl white pointy teeth!
So, when you arrived here, and placed in the only ocean themed dorm -Octavinelle- you couldn’t help but mope about. Hiding like one of those lame guppys in your room, or any small, enclosed space that reminded you of the tight tunnels of taverns near your home. Oh, how you wished to be there and chewing on random corals and laying in the warm sand.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
It was your third month when you felt the eyes of someone on you as you chewed on a random piece of wood you found on the floor of the courtyard. You stopped, looking all around you but finding nothing that seemed out of the ordinary. Only other students who were talking to one another. Shrugging it off you continue your listless chewing, waiting for the next bell to ring for your class.
When it does, you get up, throwing the gnarled piece of wood behind you and headed towards Professor Crewel’s classroom. That’s when you see a colorful glint coming from the bottom of a pillar. Stopping, your eyes glance down to find an eye-catching seashell.
“Oh?” You bend down and pick it up, eyes wide with fascination. “Haha, nice.”
Without a second thought you stuff it into your pocket and continue on your way. Finders’ keepers, you think with a grin. Mood much brighter than it had been in a while. After all who could deny a good seashell?
