I had a DM conversation with someone a few months ago where they apologized for their contributions to the harassment campaign done by my old friends and feeding it with misinformation from their general lack of knowledge, and in their messages they expressed some sort of fear of coming across as manipulative for stating how bad they felt and apologizing for it, like they were giving me a preemptive warning that that wasn't their intention, likely because they've gotten that accusation before. Which has me thinking about how younger people have been conditioned to think sincere guilt and especially the expression of it after they had time to reflect is a manipulation tactic because no one wants to admit that change like that is possible, everyone always just wants a reason to hate someone. Everyone has been pushed into the box of thinking others are either good or bad and that it cannot change. I see that a lot in younger people, and that in-and-of-itself is what's actually toxic, yet no one seems to catch onto that. I really just wish people could have sincere conversations without throwing an accusation of insincerity into the mix just because someone is expressing guilt and regret openly. Immediate vilifying like that only serves to make people afraid of apologizing in an emotionally mature and meaningful way.

What would it be called if I'm ok with proshipping when it's characters that could pass as adults (Kim Possible, Gwen Total Drama Island) and not characters that explicitly look and act like children? Like, I dunno.. I'm gonna find it weird if you find Anya from Spy X Family hot. Also not finding it great that there are people who romanticize abusive relationship dynamics and thinking that Fiction does affect reality, but not as much as some people say it does. An example would be violent video games. Are there murders caused by violent video games? Sure, but that doesn't mean we should ban video games. Parents should educate their children on what is harmful and what is not instead of simply handing them an iPad and dipping. I'm also a bit confused on people saying it's a coping method. I get that but how does that work, and shouldn't there be better ways to cope? Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Great progress on the new pony video, by the way.

I'm not the best person to ask, you'd have to ask people who are actually part of this community and know what any of the things you just mentioned are because I didn't watch the same cartoons you did growing up hahaha

Though I can tell you that people will find comfort in the oddest of things, and someone being able to find peace by writing about an abusive relationship isn't out of the ordinary, if they, for example, were in one and have found an outlet for their experience. I personally did this for years, where I'd write about and draw horrible things happening to characters I made, and it helped me get over the terrible things I've experienced. I couldn't possibly tell you how it works, you'd have to consult a psychiatrist. A lot of people have the tendency to suggest "art therapy" as opposed to writing grim fiction or drawing that sort of thing, as if that isn't also art therapy, and it drives me insane. I can't really think of anything better myself, since exploring your experiences is a common practice in therapy to come to terms with them and eventually get over them. I'd say it's better than, say, self destructive behaviors.
