My piece for @creatingblackcharacters' Black History Month challenge! I did a redraw/redesign of an old drawing (from 2022) of my OC Andromeda! I really like her new look haha Talking about the challenge under the cut:

In the old drawing, I don't think I drew her Black features that well (her not having light palms bugs me) so I wanted to improve on that. I also wanted to make her hair more of a focus so I gave her locs because a) I wanted to try drawing them and b) starry loc jewelry resembling the night sky would look cute. While drawing, I was watching this video about Black representation in Magic the Gathering, which has a lot of interesting discussion and also inspired the message for this piece. My message to Black viewers is that, first, you belong in fantasy/nerd spaces, no matter what; and second, that you deserve better representation and more characters you can identify with besides the one token Black character that creators will toss in. I hope this is enough; for tagging I'll do @catboymccartney and @welcome-to-the-cattle-dome (no pressure obviously I know it's late in the month!)
