Isabel couldnât help but wonder what this chickâs deal was, hanging around her pictures, probably taking away some custom from her but it seemed the red head was in her own little world. She shifted a little when she confessed about her own dreams. A frown on her face showed the disbelief, she had to be joking. But then again, maybe there was some hidden meaning behind it like the teeth dreams she had heard people got.Â
In all honesty, it scared her that people shared the same dreams as her. Hearing everything from someone elseâs mouth she panicked. The images of being crushed against another giants back coming through, her chest suddenly burning from the pain.Â
âLook, lady⌠just buy someâinâ or be on your way. I said I donât wanna talk about itâ Isabel huffed, clearly a little unnerved by the similarities in such a private thing as a dream.Â
Much to her dismay, sheâd apparently made the artist angry. Petraâs gaze flitted to the ground in front of her, blinking for a moment. âOf course. Iâm-- Iâm sorry...â An odd mixture of emotions swirled around inside of her as she glanced around at the other paintings.Â
It was embarrassing that her first impression on this girl was that of a weirdo-- exactly what sheâd hoped to avoid in the first place. She also felt guilty for upsetting her so quickly, but more than that, she was surprised at how vulnerable sheâd made herself by telling her about her nightmares. She didnât typically share them with just anyone, but she supposed she had a feeling they were kindred spirits, and so acted on impulse. She hadnât expected it to hurt so much when the girl shut her down, practically shooing her away.Â
Resisting the urge to beat herself up for such poor judgment, she resolved to find a painting to buy; it was the least she could do for wasting the girlâs time. The faces resonated with her, but it wasnât necessarily something she would want to keep in her room at home. Her eyes settled on a painting of a pair of birds flying in a pink sky. The image was beautiful, but had a vague bittersweet melancholy to it. Petra moved closer to the small painting, touching the corner of the canvas gently.
âIâll take this one.â She said quietly, looking over the painting once more, her previous negative feelings nearly forgotten.

Darn it. No, he would not give up.  Heâd just have to be tenacious. Taking a step closer to her he tried putting on a charming smile. The blond continued petting the content cat resting in his arms. Honestly if he could heâd adopt a cat himself if he didnât already have Jenna and could afford having two pets.
âAre you sure about adopting only one? You would also receive two litter boxes, a pound of cat food, and some cat toys with no extra charge.â Okay that was a partial lie but he really, really wanted this. Besides itâs not like anyone was around to call him out on his lies right now. He deserved that bonus and he deserved to go to that con.
Normally such persistence from a staff member would irritate her, but Petra found that this was a special circumstance in which she wanted more than anything to accept the offer, but simply couldnât. Her fatherâs explicit words echoed through her mind. However, there was something about this angel-faced boy that made her want to ask for forgiveness later rather than permission now.
It wouldnât cost more, plus all of those extra things; Certainly it was a deal only a fool would pass up. But down the line, it meant buying twice as much food, twice as much litter, and twice the amount for vet visits. Surely that was how her father would see it. If only she could think of a way to get him to understand why having two cats was better than just one. âUnfortunately, I am. My parents will only allow me to have one, you see...â She decline reluctantly for the second time.

Isabel watched as the woman looked through her work again, green eyes locked on her expressions. She noticed how the woman would skip the ones of birds, and go for the trees and the overall darker ones. It was odd considering she seemed a bright person like herself. Isabel stiffened at her question, frowning when she noticed the picture, why was this woman so interested in the origins? Most people just either liked it or they didnât.
âI guess it was a storm, I was stuck in the fog and just kept seeing these eyesâ She shrugged, it was only a dream right? Sometimes it felt real but it was always just a dream. It didnât stop her being scared of a storm or anything like it. âMost of them are. Either giant hands or facesâ Isabel shrugged, looking back up to the blonde. âIâm sorry miss, I donât really like talking back over the dreamsâ.Â
Her dream seemed to hold a few eerie similarities to Petraâs, even without all the details. Enough to give Petra chills. But a feeling of mild guilt came over her at the girlâs disinclination to continue. The last thing she wanted to do was make her feel uncomfortable. Her first instinct was to explain as quickly as possible that she didnât intend to prod her, but she managed to restrain herself, slowly nodding instead.Â
It couldnât have been easy, divulging something as personal as a dream at the request of a complete stranger. Petra thought she ought to level with her and explain the reason behind her question. She owed her that much.Â
âOh, itâs alright, I understand.â She paused, gathering her thoughts. âThe truth is, Iâve had dreams-- the same dreams since I was a child. I have them much less frequently now, but theyâre always the same. Iâm always being chased by huge giants. Sometimes they catch me, and eat me or crush me. Sometimes I can fly away and escape. The sensations are so real; The wind through my hair when I fly, and the pain when Iâm crushed. This drawing reminds me a lot of those giants. Iâm sorry, my curiosity got the better of me. I had to ask.â

Oh boy, was she pissed. This entire ordeal had back-fired, and had him drumming his fingertips against the taut fabric of his satchel, âSâjust how we do it where I come from,â he muttered, casting a glance sidewards, âSâcalled DeLand, overshadowed by Daytona. Youâve probably never heard of it,â he added defensively.
His prior rudeness would not be so easily forgiven. He appeared to be backpedaling, and she had no intention of allowing him to regain his footing. âNo, I canât say that I have. Just as youâve never heard the expression, âWhen in Rome, do as the Romans do.ââÂ

Well this wasnât going as planned. Jean cleared his throat, âNo, youâre supposed to say âoh no, you can have itâ, and then you offer it to me. Kind of out of kindness, kind of out of politeness.âÂ
âI fail to understand how you are entitled to my food just because you asked.â Honestly, what was he expecting?

â Are you, uhâ â small point downwards, â â gonna eat that? â
Petra glanced up from her homework at the man, then down to her half-eaten pastry, then back to the man. â...Yes.â She replied flatly.
