First time with no pattern. Made this for my sister's birthday. She has dreams of elephants sometimes. It was very fun to make and was easier than I thought it would be. Very much like modern folk embroidery.

Lyme disease. Do you know someone who has it? I have been treated for a few times. I haven't had a full time job since 2011. 8 years with no everyday adult interactions. 8 years of chronic symptoms; headaches to migraines, joint pains from elbows, neck, shoulder, fingers, knees, toes, oh the ankles. 8 years of insomnia. Mystery rashes, chronic sinus infections, ear infections. Dry eye syndrome, fatigue, inflammation is the worst. Hands and fingers swollen, feet and ankles. I have a chronic sprained ankles, a torn meniscus. Back muscle spasms. Zoning out and forgetting what I was just doing. 8 years of anxiety and mild depression. 8 years nausea. Of feeling hot and cold, vertigo, dizziness, seeing flashing rainbows things with blurred vision. No smell or taste. Eye droopy. My smile is crooked. Sometimes my face looks like I had a stroke. Not being able to say the word I was thinking, it comes out completely different.
The worst are the comments, oh she isn't working comments. The last job I had to call in sick in the first month more than going to the job. I couldn't eat, rashes, nausea. Doctor says flareup. The lights are florescent, they must of aggravated my body. I'm allergic to certain lights now? Fucking great...
I was diagnosed 13 years ago with Lyme, diagnosed 11 years ago with fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed 5 years with Lupus. And disability denied me. I'm 33 years old with a AA in accounting that I have never been able to use. I have tried to get jobs. I have the resume, the interview. I can't lift 50 lbs. I can't sit at a desk for more than 45 minutes. I can't stand for more than 45ish minutes.
Oh did I mention there are 5 children from age 17 to 6 who call me Mother. Yup. So, I do everything for them. I will never have a pension, benefits, a retirement fund. There are no lyme doctors in Suffolk County NY that I have found. I'm getting really tired of this shit.

My First Etsy Sale!
I was having a spat with my man. Then out of nowhere, my phone tings a notification.
It's Etsy, I click and it said someone bought one of my creations! I jump up in joy and excitement. I yelled proudly someone bought my parsnip! My man's entire demeanor changed to curiosity. All arguments were forgotten. He marches toward the area I keep my demo creations of amigurumi. I could see a lightbulb and money signs go off above his head. Hehehe. He never looked at them before.
My sister, knows I love to learn new things, about everything. I am skilled in a variety of areas. Alas, I master nothing though. She told me to master one thing. I choose amigurumi. I love it!
I have been crocheting for over 25 years. I'm 33 years old. It's been apart of my whole life. I remember my Oma knitting and my mother crocheting Afghans, and my grandma quilting. So since last May I have crocheted everyday. Trying all different stitches, making all sorts of items; winter hats, scarves, potholders, coasters, baby blankets, throw blankets, baby hats, etc then I stumbled on amigurumi. Oh what joy it brings see the little stitches form and create such silly things.
