This nobody would or should care if it was in Canada but it's the USA. I also don’t understand the people that are going around saying it's fine he would be allowed to do it in Canada like... he is not in Canada right now. Compare it to other stuff like child marriage, which is legal in some countries. That doesn’t mean people from those countries should be able to do that in other countries where it isn't. There are punishments for underage drinking and I hope for him that he will get away with it.

I have dual citizenship and I am 18 but that doesn’t mean I can go get blackout drunk in the US right now because I can get blackout drunk in Canada. I understand he needs to blow steam because he’s just had an incredibly stressful season, but I also think he should be smart about his actions because he’s not a kid. He’s turning 20 in a couple months and this can reflect really poorly on the sharks and just the organization itself and team Canada because he’s not even like going somewhere where he can legally drink. but im excited for someone to hand mack and mic and let him talk his shit

i should be writing(shouldnt i always??)but instead i am going to rant about the sharks and how rebuilding and playoff races do not agree with each other.

ahem.

the san jose sharks have a very young team. they've been bringing in teenager after teenager, and fuck i mean, 12 of their players are 25 or under. thats so young, that is insanely young. in the 23-24 season they didnt even win 20 games, in the 24-25 season they won exactly 20. this is a new team full of new players on new lines with new chemistry.

no one really expected a lot out of them this year. losing out on schaefer was big(no shade misa i love u)and even with willmack being yk, willmack, it was nowhere near enough last season to do anything to change their record. what it did do was change their energy. the sharks had life again. so when you get a team that is having a bit of a miraculous season in the middle of a massive rebuild, obviously this is going to create issues.

this is not a team that went into this season looking for the playoffs, but now theyre in it and the clock is ticking and for some FUCKING REASON, their coach thinks that pining all their hopes and dreams on a fucking nineteen year old in his second season can somehow fix everything. note how macklin will never have to earn ice time(also no shade, hes incredible but you see my point here dont you). this is a team that needs leadership(specifically a captain that isnt a child, thanks. mack is not ready rn and we all know it)and it needs time.

currently, they have a rapidly ending season and somehow the solution is to not encourage player development but to fuck up developing lines and split up your most bonded duo. because thats totally a good coaching idea. sure.

anyways im tired and i have more too say but none of the energy so im just gonna finish this fic and watch the game and try not to kill ryan warsofsky
