@equator
it’s such bullshit that we don’t get to hear this voice anymore.
you taught me a secret language I can’t speak with anyone else and you know damn well I guess like ruin myself for you
I think about jumping off of very tall somethings just to see you come running
maybe in another life is my favourite book but it is sure not helping my situation right now because all i keep thinking is like, which one decision split my life into this universe where i have a boot on my foot and i can’t do anything i want, and how can i just undo that one choice. which also makes me start thinking like ok what are all the other versions of me doing now? what about the one that never moved out of charlottesville, how’s she? she probably owns part of that house. and is super fucking ripped and certainly not handicapped. or the one that never moved to cville. she is probably significantly less happy and still a puppy to someone else. or the version that never stayed up late or partied. Life is long and full of an infinite number of decisions. I have to think that the small ones don’t matter, that I’ll end up where I need to end up no matter what I do, or whatever.
❤️
no one knows except for both of us
i won't be around long enough to find out

I think a lot about “what ifs” and the multiverse and different versions of lives that could have been lived if different decisions had been made. I have the book Maybe in Another Life to thank for that. If you have spent any time in a five mile radius of me for the last two years, I’ve likely talked your ear off about it, extolling the virtues, making sure you are very clear that you must read it. An important plot point takes place here, at Urban Light, and I’d never noticed the symbolism between that scene and this place until this trip. Maybe it’s because I’ve never seen it or maybe it’s because I just read Dark Matter and it further fucked my shit up about quantum mechanics or maybe it’s just the State of my life now, but anyway, here we are. I’m thinking about all the ways my life could be different and all the other versions of me that are living different, probably worse lives, and I’m just having a lot of feelings, okay.
“Life is long and full of an infinite number of decisions. I have to think that the small ones don’t matter, that I’ll end up where I need to end up no matter what I do.”
Everything is shit and the world might be on the verge of nuclear war.

Everyone:
I know I talk ad fucking nauseum about Maybe in Another Life. I’ve read it often in the past two years when I feel lost or need justification for a dumb choice I’m making.
But sometimes there are lines in the book that I forget, and when they find me again, it’s like getting hit with a semi.
Come on baby get your shoes on You're looking like you need a rescue Underneath the southern moonlight Where only I can find you We can do it with our eyes closed We can sit and talk for hours Underneath the golden flowers Where my sunshine grows Sugar my love Sugar my burn Sugar may hide Sugar may learn I could give a thousand reasons I could live a thousand lives I know I would always meet you Underneath a summer sky So come on tell me love is glory Come on tell me love is real Show me what your heart is made of Show me what I need to feel Show me that love is worth the wait Tell me I'm right Give me your love don't hesitate Show me tonight I waited so long for a love so true So I'm giving it all right back to you I'm giving you my best of silver I'm giving you my best of gold Sugar may hide Sugar may burn So come on baby get those shoes on And we can run away from here Talk about a life we're starting We can start it all right here Show me that love is worth the wait Tell me I'm right Give me your love don't hesitate Show me tonight
Dear much appreciated male fans of TCGS...
… and not even everyone, but just some people. I want to be clear on some company policy.
TCGS is a safe space. That’s a good thing. BUT - just to be clear - This does not mean “it is safe for you to say things to girls you might not usually have the guts to say even if it puts the girl in a weird spot or makes her feel objectified.”
It does not mean “It is a safe space for guys in their thirties to say things to teenaged girls about their bodies in a chat room.”
I love this little community we’ve built, I even love that so many couples have come out of it, and I love that sad nerds sometimes flirt with each other after meeting through TCGS.
But let’s please as a default all just treat each other as asexual, gender neutral comedy fans who want to hang out online and have a good time and who are meeting to celebrate a creative venture, not to hook up via the chat room people sit in to be amongst other fans while watching the show.
You’ll get to know each other over time and then be able to feel out if your flirting is welcomed or appropriate.
Saying shit about teenaged girls semi-anonymously in a chat room isn’t going to make anyone feel good, and at the most basic level it has nothing to do with your enjoyment of a dumb comedy show. So best case scenario you’re putting a bunch of stuff out there that’s distracting others from being able to enjoy the show, and worse case scenario you’re making young ladies feel gross. Please do me a favor and look out for this. Those of us who make the show really do see some of this stuff unfold, and I’ve personally noticed reactions to this flare up a few times. It bums me out and makes me concerned.
Very sincerely,
Geth
PS - I know this is the first post after a reblog of a screen cap of the show where JD Amato inexplicably super-imposed a phone sex offer over my image. Some may call that hypocrisy. I call it the unfortunate/happy byproduct of co-existing as a comedian with mischievous friends while also trying to be a good human being.
