Though there are a lot of exciting things about Fox’s newest Live Theatre offering (mostly Aaron Tveit as Danny Zuko), I’m a little bit troubled about something that I just read in the newest promo article - “Broadway writers Robert Cary and Jonathan Tolins will write the script.“ (The Wrap, http://www.thewrap.com/grease-live-first-teaser-sees-julianne-hough-vanessa-hudgens-doing-the-hand-jive-video/ )

Grease has already been written. It has a script. In fact, it has two scripts, as the original Broadway script was heavily revised for the film and most modern-day productions are an unfortunate hybrid of the two. Why does there need to be a new script? What is the point of bring Live Theatre to people who may not normally be able to experience it if we aren’t giving the audience an authentic product?

Making science cool since before I was born

Things that are terrifying

And by “things”, I mean “thing”.

I have always loved keeping a blog or journal. I love looking back at things I once wrote and seeing where I was and who I was at that time in my life. Sometimes I am so very sad for my past self and sometimes I am super amused by all the cute/funny things I once said on Twitter.

But for whatever reason, I have been feeling reticent about writing my own posts on this tumblr. I’ve been doing a lot of curation (mostly sharing online articles that I either thought were cute or significant)... but what if what I have in my own mind isn’t worth sharing?

Then again, if I don’t share it, what will my future self look back at with nostalgia or love for who I once was, whether amusing or sad?

And there. I did one terrifying thing today. I wrote a tiny post of my very own.

This one time (this one time being right now), I was Artistic Director of a theatre company. We took a petite hiatus to figure out who we want to be and what we want to say, but now we are back and cannot wait to share our stories with Calgary. Because when you feel something as a character, are you ACTUALLY feeling it as the person behind the character?
