There was a tradition of the second button in most high schools of Japan. The second button of a boy’s uniform is to be given to the person you love as it was the closest button to the heart. But if someone has the courage, they may ask for the second button before it is offered to anyone else.

It was an open secret in the entire school that Tsubaki’s second button belonged to Umemiya… that is, if he could just find the man!

And no, I'm not just talking about the checkered apron and shirt since Sakura and Kiryu can be counted as wearing one either, but Ume and Tsuba are the only ones wearing white wool sweaters... And if I'm not mistaken they are also the only ones depicted cooking/preparing for a cake/with utensils....

Why are they almost always depicted as a couple I'm crying 😭

I have always wanted to redraw this panel from Just Listen to the Song / フツーに聞いてくれ / Listen to Me Normally) by Tatsuki Fujimoto and Oto Toda, so after reading it, I thought, wait, what if I draw middle-school Umetsuba in this? Aha. So, yeah, there it is.

Day 4: One-sided

Yap session. Ah, finally, my favorite genre of all time: angst. This is based on a fanfic that I'm currently working on. The premise is:

"In every universe, Tsubakino Tasuku will fall in love with Umemiya Hajime. And in those universes, Umemiya will never love Tsubaki the same way as Tsubaki loves him.

However, what if, finally, the universe granted one chance for Umemiya to reciprocate Tsubaki's feelings?"

As you can see in the image, in this universe, Tsubaki is the one who was admired and adored by Umemiya. Unfortunately, as much as Tsubaki tried to love him back romantically, they just couldn't.

Because every moment with Tsubaki felt like it could end at any time. So, he deliberately, with painstaking effort, arranged all his pieces back.
