hi!!! Is okay to ask why did you choose to publish on NamiComics? Just curious. I love Rekindled and your art!
While I love Tumblr and started LR here for good reason (it's the place to be for fandom bullshit lol) it has a number of limitations that affect both my ability to share the comic and my readers' ability to enjoy it. I can't share more than 30 images in one post which is why I often have to clump a bunch of panels into one image; and of course that also significantly reduces their quality which can especially be a pain for mobile readers where you don't have the option of opening the image in a new tab.
There also isn't any way to easily find or navigate episodes. I get around this the best way I can by including links to past and following episodes in the episode descriptions, but it's not perfect, sometimes I forget to update the links, and it makes finding any episodes in between the first one and current one very frustrating.
So using a proper comic platform as a mirror is super helpful to provide people an alternative means to read the comic that doesn't restrict viewership, doesn't deep fry the images, and allows readers to easily find previous episodes.
That said, I explicitly did NOT want to post it to Webtoons, for obvious reasons. It being an LO-recreation comic, I didn't want to subject myself to the nightmare of dealing with Webtoons or the leftover LO fans still on the platform 😂
Originally the mirror for LR was actually Dillyhub (a site that was suitable for my needs but also not super popular so posting my LO-rewrite comic there wouldn't be much of an issue) but after the site went down with very little notice or communication from staff, it became clear it wasn't gonna be a stable location for LR.
And funnily enough, after digging into it more, not only did I find out the site was basically always doomed to fail, but my own blog here was considered a primary competitor for the website, because it was where many people were coming from (and leaving for). Point is, the site may still be surviving but it's definitely not thriving, and so I made the decision to make NamiComi my primary mirror. I had already posted a couple episodes to NamiComi just to try out the site's features, so it was just a matter of updating the rest (which is why there's such a huge time gap between when I posted the first three episodes and the rest of them, many of which were basically bulk posted at the same time LOL)
I enjoy NamiComi! I think it's a great (albeit smaller, but that's not an issue tbh) competitor to Webtoons, and unlike other competitors like GlobalComix, it hasn't fallen victim to corporate interference (knock on wood).
My only real issue with it is that it's a bit slow / unoptimized. Everything from loading the front page to clearing notifications to loading episodes to even posting an episode just always takes an extended amount of loading time. But I'm also just a stupid impatient person 😂 And those issues are still not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. Finding new comics to read is a lot easier and subsequently building an audience there feels way more achievable; their paywall features are accessible and controllable without being locked into contracts (tho I don't use them obv because LR is a fan project so I can't really attest to how profitable it actually is) and the backend is pretty beginner friendly (though the distinctions of "organizations" is kinda weird but easy to get used to).
Small complaints aside, I think it's def a great alternative for Canvas creators looking to break free from WT, or are simply looking for their first platform ! :) NamiComi and ComicFury alike are my go-to choices for comic platforms rn, they're very different but both very strong platforms.
