Food Story is a series of illustrations for the Richmond public art program. The images are reproduced and displayed around illuminated columns supporting the city's public transit. The theme I was given to work with was called "Monuments to Food". Drawn with ink, red cabbage, baking soda, coffee, red wine, tumeric, beets and soy sauce, each of the four illustrations depict a different stage in our interactions with food. The series is meant to question the differences between how our food is perceived and how it is actually produced, distributed and consumed in contemporary society. Each illustration was drawn at approximately 20"x19" to be reproduced at 76"x74". Find out more about Richmond's public art program here: http://www.richmond.ca/culture/publicart/program.htm
