#this is one of my favourite moment/line of this scene #he basically said that all the pain the loneliness the mistakes were worthy #because otherwise he wouldn’t have the possibility of knowing elena #and to me this is a big deal #THE big deal #he didn’t have an easy existence #he was basically alone he chose to live as a vampire #he was fooled for 145 years by the woman he was obsessed with #but all of it doesn’t matter#because he had the chance to just only know elena #and here you see the impact she had and still has on him #elena isn’t like anyone else in damon’s life #she’s different #she was able to get into his heart #she made him feel again #nobody else was able to do that #not even remotely #elena is the key to damon’s humanity
