Gemuary 2026 - Day 3 : Liddicoatite
A day late for Gemuary because I got stuck chasing a vision and it took way longer than expected.
Liddicoatite tourmaline’s hexagonal structure reminded me of a beehive, so I leaned fully into the honeycomb idea.
I may have spent ages rendering the crystal details just to hide them under honey… but that’s the price of committing to the concept (; - ;)

Thanks @chocolatechipkraken for the prompt list, this will be a fun month 😘
I don't think I'll be doing Gemuary this year, but please feel free to give it a go!
Feel free to use either of the old prompt lists too! [2023] [2024] [2025]
Here's my previous installments from 2023 2024, and 2025
This sounds like a fun challenge, I think I'll give it a try 😉
Flesh Bobsleigh
Last spring, my mom and I had one of the weirdest encounters ever. She lives up in the mountains, and whenever I visit, we plan these little nature walks together. This time, she wanted to take me to her new favorite spot — a tiny waterfall near a beautiful, small village. Since there weren't many tourists that day, the whole road was basically ours. It was so peaceful — just us and the sound of birds in the forest — until we ran into this strange group on our way up.
There they were, three of them on the other side of the road, heading the same way as us but walking much slower. All of them stuck their thumbs up, probably hoping for a ride. They totally ignored us when we said hello, so we just kept going, but of course we had to sneak a look. It was two women and a man. The women looked perfectly normal, dressed in trekking gear and smiling as if they were having a blast. But the guy? He honestly looked like he’d been stranded on a deserted island for years. Out of breath, wild hair, big beard. And his clothes were an interesting choice for trekking in the freezing weather: T-shirt, tight shorts, and — wait for it — flip-flops. Plus, the front of his shirt was shredded, as if he’d been dragged across the forest floor or something. (I tried to draw them from memory)
And then, things got even weirder. A little further up the road, we successively passed two other groups: a total copy-paste of the first trio, all acting exactly the same. Except the last guy looked even rougher than the previous ones: he was wheezing, his shirt was totally gone, and he was covered in cuts and bruises. His eyes were just… empty. It was like his soul had left his body.
When we finally made it to the village, my mom and I were totally baffled — we didn't even go to see the waterfall. We kept spiraling, trying to figure out what was going on with those people. My working theory is that the women were athletes and the men were their human sleds for some new extreme sport: the “Flesh Bobsleigh” (Bob being the name of the sleds).
We never saw them again after that day, so I guess we'll never know the truth. What about you? Do you have any theories? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
