I wonder if, maybe, Irene and Shad’s relics are really just two parts of the same? We know that Irene had used their daughter to make Shad’s relic, but what if she used her for hers as well, and that’s why they are so alike.

From what we have seen/can assume, Shad and Irene have quite similar powers that just manifest in different ways.

Shad is just as capable of “healing” as Irene is, technically. He can bring people from the dead, presumably heal injuries, and grant a sort of immortality, as we see with the Shadowknights. Also, As mentioned by Hyria, they also have some sort of control over realms, their creation and destruction. They even have relatively similar crashouts, if we see shadowknights as a vessel for Shad and Aph as Irene’s vessel, and then compare Laurance’s and Aph’s respective wedding crashouts.

Obviously they are supposed to be balancing complementary forces, even shown through their relics, being the most similar to each other, seconded only by Esmunds (which you know keeps me up at night)

Also, because I lovee colors, I think it’s really neat that Irene and Shad’s stones are complementary colors, and both have similar flames.

Idk, it’s probably highly unlikely, but fun to think about

hi slightly worse concept what if Esmund only turned his brother into a relic because his brother was going to die. His shield can’t stop death itself, but he can stop him from suffering, stop him from rotting. He can’t fail him a second time if he makes him into something that can’t be hurt ever again.

What if Irene used her and Shad’s daughter to make both of their relics?

What if Esmund’s relic was made from his brother, since Esmund is Garroth’s divine counterpart, and Garroth is never an only child in any universe?

What if Enki’s was from his father?

What if all this crap and the fates that seem to dictate the experiences of these characters were connected to the previous actions made by Irene and other divine warriors?

What if we’re not reading deeply enough into this?

What if I’m tired and sleep deprived?

I wish we got confirmation that shad and mcd Aaron were ultimas, because like. They are. Right? Because it's stated that shad has magicks as powerful as Irene before he's a divine warrior and with the fear around him being similar to the ultima, and the whole ultima thing with mystreet Aaron being a family curse, and him being a direct descent of shad, and the ultima existed before shad, and yada yada you get the point.

That could be why mcd Aaron was so keen on keeping an eye on the werewolves (from what I remember)
