Introductions Are Necessary....
Let’s start by asking ourselves a few simple questions. Why am I here? What is all of this for? Why create a blog on Tumblr to review books? What is the meaning to life and happiness? Well, there’s quite a lengthy answer for those, and I don’t even think I can answer the last one and you probably don’t want me to. At least that’s not why you’re here... Heh...
Long story short, I’m too lazy to learn other blog websites. I mean my God, how experienced do they think I am with website design? I can just click and drag and type words.... and that usually takes a lot of effort on my part. It’s too much work. This is why I’m here. Sitting here right now typing in this little box. Struggling to figure out how this website works. I’m sure I’ll get it down, trust me. It’s so much easier than the other crap I was trying to maintain. Now, for the main purpose of this blog.
Who all likes books?!
Yes! I love the enthusiasm..... The excitement on this dude’s face.... I’m feeling it. *coughs* Yes, this blog is going to be dedicated to book reviews. Don’t everyone get too hype on me now. Keep it together. I know how exciting reading is for everyone these days, especially when we have the Internet and video games and this instant gratification stuff. So sitting down with a good old fashioned book and just reading the black and white pages sounds completely pointless. Am I right? Total garbage, yes? Yes....? No....? Ok.... Anyway....
My goal with this blog, I hope, is to get you as excited about reading as I am. I know it sounds like a lot of hard work but I’m in for the ride; I’m dedicated. I’m all about setting myself up to fail, how about you?! Ok, not that last part, but yes to the first. I want to get people, like you, excited about reading and not thinking of it as some boring required assignment from your old high school literature teacher. It requires some time to find what you like, but hopefully once you do, you’ll be as hooked as I am. I’m going to try to select from a wide variety of literature and give you guys a pretty basic rundown of what I experienced when I read a specific book. I’m not gonna fluff it up and talk about how the red carpet in this story symbolizes the deep burning desire of the main character’s love interests.... blah blah blah, crap. No. That’s not what gets people excited about reading.
I’m going to make this as real and down-to-earth for you as possible. I want you to be able to see the exciting adventures that books can take you on. You can discover amazing things when you decide to go on a journey with your favorite author. They can take you places you could never even possibly visit in your whole life. The whole fun about reading is that you get to go on the journey yourself, in your mind. You create the images in your head and set your own pace for how you experience the narrative, and these journeys will stick with you forever. You can even learn a little bit about yourself through a character in the story.
I just really hope that this blog will inspire someone to pick up a book, any book, doesn’t matter what kind. I want to help people see the joy in stories and how they can change your life or just be a fun weekend distraction or adventure. But first I need to find a book to review. Eventually, hopefully, I’ll have enough readers to do a poll or suggestions on books to read. But until next time.... Happy Reading!!!
