contemplating archiving this blog and starting fresh since it's such a mess here. would it be worth it? does anyone actually still want me here?
that bridge has survived a nuclear war and 97 years of weather. it won’t s u r v i v e me.
“alt!”
Send me “alt!” and I’ll introduce you to a character I’ve rped in the past, want to play in the future or are currently playing somewhere else!
a character i’d want to play: anna jarvis
war. terrible war. only those with malice in their hearts benefitted from such an atrocity. so many lives lost in the pursuit of one mans ideal. yet somehow within all that horror, one gleaming beacon of light.
it had been on a day such as any other. selling her wears in order to make ends meat when she had met him. such an innocent encounter that had unknowingly shaped the course of her future.
edwin jarvis had been a man unlike all the others that strutted about, yet the kind aura about him had drawn her in as no other had. in the frightful place their world had become, he became her safety. at least for a little while. peace could only last so long when the very nature of her birth was a symbol of shame to the enemy.
the war was not contained by borders, it did not sway to the policies of any one nation. her time was running short, her only desire being to spend her remaining days with the man she’d come to love. unknowing of his deception at the time, anna had jumped at the chance for freedom when he had offered it to her. she fled across the sea to await his arrival at the end of his tour of service. it was only later that she learnt of the circumstances of her passage out of the war torn countries.
in saving her she was going to lose him. she’d just known it.
but that was not to be. never would she have imagined that her future happiness would be aided by a man renown worldwide as a selfish philanderer. never the less she owed everything to one howard stark. her husband, her marriage, her love. everything.
the sound of the front door being closed brought her out of her rumination. with a soft smile she ran a hand gently over a page of the scrapbook detailing their lives together, a photo of them both smiling blindingly up at her. their wedding day, the best day of her life. closing the book she sat it aside and got up from the sofa in which she’d been waiting for her husband to return home to her.
a chill had her drawing her dressing gown closer around her as she made her way across the hall to greet him. the soft light of flickering candles lighting her way. it was late but she had been unable to find sleep without her husbands comforting presence beside her.
❛ edwin darling, i’d half thought howard had swayed you into indulging in some of his illicit affairs. i take it one of his more wilful paramours refused to vacate again? at such an hour i would have imagined he’d let her stay one more night. ❜

You said that we get to start over. Did you?
veinsofwar is amazing and indulged my need for this plot
sitting on the front steps of her preparatory school, sophia dooley watched as one by one the other girls were picked up by parents or nannies, until finally she was the only one that remained. it was embarrassing seeing the pitying look on her teachers face. this was the sixth time this month. why did her mother have to go off on her retreat? she never would have left her here this late.
elbows resting on her knees and head in her hands, she examined each of the cars that drove past. blue, red, black, black, white. none of them belonging to her father. she even made a game out of trying to memorise the number plates in the ten or so seconds she had before they passed.
a taxi pulling up startled her out of her stupor. was this him? maybe her father hadn't been able to make it on time for a good reason. only when a woman stepped out her hopeful expression dropped. watching as the woman moved to talk to her teacher, sophia heard her last name being mentioned. he wasn't coming. her father had once again been too busy to come and get her himself. what could be so important at a phone company?
standing sophia grabbed her books and hugged them to her chest and she went over to the woman her father had obviously sent. she couldn't help but wonder who she was. her first thought was that this was one of the secretaries at her fathers company, but the woman didn't seem like someone who'd be happy taking orders. not judging by the confident stance. one thing her father had always taught her was how to read people.
clearing her throat as she stood behind the woman and her teacher, she nervously tucked a strand of messy blonde hair behind her ear. always make a good first impression, be tactful, and look presentable. one of the many lessons taught there.
❛ he forgot again didn't he? ❜
so much for tact.
veinsofwar replied to your post: OH DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Y EAH MAN WE TOTALLY CAN!
and i'm off to write a starter because I NEED THIS! you have no idea! every other kid is idealising captain america, sophia's hero is gonna be peggy carter!
veinsofwar liked your post
CAN WE DO THIS?! :O
au where sophia is dooley's daughter and one of peggy's lousy assignments is to pick her up from school. but when he gets home all he hears is, "daddy peggy is so awesome! can peggy come over for dinner? i wanna be like peggy when i grow up." because let's be honest, what little girl wouldn't look up to peggy carter?
theyoungsir replied to your post: yes that is the future i envision. imagine their hugs :’))))))))))
everyone calls her cute when she's standing next to carl and she's just like "I AM NOT CUTE! I AM TOUGH!" then that's kinda ruined when he bear hugs her.
omg we need a future au verse with cop!carl (or whatever you figure his future job will be) and nurse!sophia being adorable besties.
[ carl grimes ➳ theyoungsir ]
[ As she held his hand, he let his close around her’s as well, a light squeeze coming from his grasp. He doesn’t mind holding her hand, in some way, he even likes holding her hand. They’ve both been through the same things, and have always been together. They’re both still here, and to Carl that meant something.
When she said she would protect him too he believes her, even if he doubts her capabilities, the meaning behind her words isn’t lost on him. He nodded, knowing that no matter what they’d be there for each other, and protect each other and their family. There’s a few moments of quiet before she spoke, voice lightly breaking through the dark that’s settled in the living room.
A crease formed in his brow as he tried to understand her question. She wanted to believe in a safe place, and he did too, he just didn’t want to be disappointed in it. ]
“No…even if we’re here for a while, I don’t think it’ll be like it was before again. Maybe it can be better than what it is now, but not the same. Besides, they’re just walls, Sophia. At the prison we had fences and walls and it didn’t matter. I mean, these people have lasted this long — Maybe we could too. Maybe. But they won’t, they never do, not forever.”
[ He was just trying to be realistic, preparing for the inevitable evacuation. Whether by people or the dead it’d come, he just hoped they’d all be ready when it did. ]
”I want somewhere to be good, so that we could stop running. So our parents wont have to worry so much, and fight, you know? It might be this place, but it might not. I only know that it won’t be like this forever.”
she won't deny that some part of her had been hoping that he would say that this place could be safe, be somewhere they could call their own. but in the end his answer is what she'd been expecting, even agreed with. anytime they thought they were safe something happened that would prove that belief wrong. hope was a hard thing to hold on to these days.
no doubt alexandria would turn out just like everywhere else. thinking like that her anger towards the people who acted as if everything was normal turned to sadness. they wouldn't make it. they didn't know what it was like out there or how to survive. if the dead broke through then the kids she'd seen playing in the streets earlier ...
tears pricked at her eyes and she used her free hand to wipe them away. she wouldn't cry. crying was for babies. sophia was strong. stronger than anyone gave her credit for. no matter what happened their group would make it. they were survivors. the strongest people sophia had ever known. they were family, and family always looked out for one another.
❛ i want you to teach me how to fight. i know they took our guns but we still have knives. it's just as much my responsibility to help protect us. i wanna help. ❜
no more being the one everyone looked to as the weak link. being little or a girl didn't matter anymore. carl was her age and he could fight. andrea and her mom could kick butt as well as anyone. it didn't make sense for sophia not to know how to defend herself. whether it was walkers or people who wanted to cause them harm, sophia wouldn't be afraid anymore.

the grin is returned as she settles into the chair, it was nice to just sit and actually take the time to enjoy having a place safe enough to where they play games, a place they could call home. with how hard they’ve been fighting, they earned it. maggie gives the young girl a nod to make the first move, and she was ready to earn the title and bragging rights to beating the unbeatable champion.
” yeah, i’ve heard —— heard you beat my daddy an’ checkers is his kinda game, i’m heard to defend his name. “
setting the pieces she'd been playing with back into position, sophia makes the first move. a cocky grin working its way over her lips as she remembers the look on mr greene's face when he'd realised that she'd won. he was probably regretting teaching her how to play now. still it was fun having some competition over something innocent. like things were back to normal for a while.
❛ not gonna happen miss maggie! bet you a plate of whatever we have on the next spaghetti tuesday that i win. ❜

( she keeps her hands placed on the little one’s shoulders, making sure her grip isn’t too tight & isn’t too loose— just enough to hold her steady. the girl seems rather frazzled, which has michonne looking in the direction the girl turns to, brown hues surveying their surroundings. brows furrow in concern when she sees nothing, peering down at the other incredulously. )
❝ we gotta get out of here first so the monsters don’t get us. then, after we wait ‘em out, we’ll look for your group. think you can handle it? ❞
( gloved fingers clutch onto the younger’s hand, making sure her grip is tight enough so that she doesn’t lose her between the trees. they’re taking a risk by running with them nearing, but they don’t seem to have any other plausible options. so, she starts to make a run for it. )
short legs struggle to keep up with the older womans running. a few times she stumbled but the child is able to keep up for the most part. as if a hand it pressing down on her chest, it becomes more and more difficult for her to continue on as her breathing becomes painful. they'd been running for nearly ten minutes. surely they'd be okay now right?
shoe catching on an upturned root, sophia goes sprawling across the ground. tears well in her eyes as she feels a white hot pain spreading over her leg. turning over the little girl looks down to see something dark staining the knee of her pants. blood. a child falling and skinning their knee shouldn't be anything too severe, but in this world they now live in it only makes her slower. more of a reliability.
bottom lip trembling as she tried to hold in her cries -- it's too dangerous when they didn't know what was in the forest around them -- she looks up at the woman. she's scared. scared of being without her mommy and scared that she won't be able to find her again. what would happen then? she'd be all alone.
❛ do you think we lost them? ❜
if they had to keep running sophia felt like she might collapse. everything hurt. she was so stupid for running off. everyone had told her to stay close to camp. they'd be so mad at her.
[ bellamy blake ➳ solitaryxsoldier ]
{ Handsome features smoother than in any given waking hour, intense rays of sunlight that weaved their way through gaps in the roof of the prison hold casting elegant shadows upon crimson laced flesh, Bellamy remained entirely unaware of the camp he lay at the heart of; an unexpected state of slumber having claimed him as its own an indefinable cluster of moments beforehand, it being the first prominent bout of rest he’d been blessed with in what felt like an eternity.
Peace however, appeared to evade him, his subconsciousness a pit of swirling memories, the distorted images of his peers brought to life to haunt him in his time of vulnerability. Octavia, Clarke, Jasper, Monty, Raven… All who lay behind a veil of uncertainty, all of which he was momentarily powerless in saving. The unrelenting weight of ambiguity in relation to his own well being and that of his future seemed entirely unimportant in comparison to that of his people, of those who come to associate with home. He’d been a leader, someone like minded souls had looked up to, had counted on when it mattered most and in many ways, he’d failed them; he’d taken a wrong turn somewhere that had the drop ship and surrounding camp being overthrown by Grounders, the status of those who’d willingly lay down his own existence for, unknown.
Rectifying his own misgivings, locating his princess and the others, being reunited with his sister, they were the next steps that demanded to be undertaken even if it took every remaining shred of will he possessed to do so; for who was Bellamy Blake without the hundred? A janitor, a criminal, little more than a monster. They’d cast him into incarceration, a fact of which he was momentarily blind to in his degree of unconsciousness, but such feeble bindings would prove inadequate in keeping the king from his own kind.
Plump lips almost imperceptibly parted to draw in slumber hazed breath, the rhythmic ascension and descent of his structured torso accompanying an occasion kiss of lengthy lashes to the scorned complexion of his cheeks, the eldest Blake remained deep beneath a sea of bittersweet unawareness, that was until of course, the sensation of something prodding his thigh tugged at his lucidity. It was a sharp inhale of air that rattled through fatigued lungs which indicated his eventual state of wakefulness, the lean structure of a jacket concealed arm instinctively shifting as if to reach up to rub at tired eyes, only to be restrained by the ties that bound him.
Brow creasing in a momentary bout of confusion, his lithe digits twitching in impatience, the co-leader of the delinquents sent down to Earth in a twisted trial for human survival allowed his eyes to flutter open; mocha hues coming to rest upon the young girl who sat before him. She was vaguely familiar in the way a stranger one passed on the way to work each morning would be, a face without a name; someone he didn’t know but felt the smallest of connections to. She was uttering his name, something that shouldn’t have surprised him yet succeeded in doing so, the warrior forcing back the lump of moisture that clung incessantly to the back of his throat as the previous day’s series of events that’d brought him to camp Jaha, came rushing up to the surface; his mumbled out statement one forged out of pure instinct, a merciless fog of restfulness still clouding his being. }
“How did you- How did you get in here?”
shrugging sophia moves to pull out a sharp piece of wreckage she's fashioned into a shiv from where she'd concealed it in her sock before leaning around to work at the bindings keeping him hostage. though the two had never actually interacted she feels compelled to help him. he was one of the ones who'd kept them alive for so long. when the adults up on the ark had sent them down here to die, they'd learnt to survive.
❛ most of the people in charge have been distracted all day. there wasn't even anyone on duty. besides no one notices me. i can usually move around without anyone seeing. ❜
with one last hack at the rope it falls free and she sit back. taking a second to actually look at him. not to be blunt, but she can't help thinking he looks like crap. anyone would after what they'd been through. the grounders had completely decimated them up until clarke had shut the doors of the dropship. after that everything is kind of a blur. she remembers a strange smoke then falling asleep. by the time she'd woken up everyone was gone and she'd stumbled into the woods alone. it was only pure chance that she'd been found by survivors of the ark crash.
for days she'd tried to adjust back to the rules of their people, but instead of safety all she felt was trapped. she wasn't one of them any more. no longer one of the sky people, she was a grounder.
❛ no one's going looking for the others. we have to help them. they're still out there! ❜
her words are desperate. those were her people. the ones who helped her build a home. thinking of how they were just being left out there to fend for themselves filled her with anger. if the arc wouldn't find them then she would. what else could she do?
as she shifted she felt something pushing against her leg. digging her hand into her pocket sophia pulled out the ration packet that she had stolen earlier, throwing it to land in his lap.
❛ oh and i grabbed you this. didn't know if they were feeding you or not. ❜
