What is Errgé?

Erggé is a fictional world, based on real life mythologies, folklore, and history.

As of right now the entire world is not completely fleshed out. Currently I have the continents and oceans names, as well as, some of the different countries, societies, and races that make up the world.

These are subject to change as I do more research and narrow down the mythologies and folklore I want to focus on.

Currently the most flesh out continent is Averebía and I am working on a story that takes place there.

Dairmuid Oisín mac Rónáin, 22, Sídhe, training to be a Druid

Dairmuid must complete his Trek across Averebía. He is supposed to gather knowledge on the magical and natural world around him before returning home and taking over as Chief of the Rónáin Clan. Diarmuid does not want to be chief of the Rónáin Clan. He feels aimless, floating from one day to the next, but never really living. He thinks he is crazy because of the voices in his head. An old selkie told him the legend of the murúch, who can supposedly tell the future. Diarmuid thinks that if he knew the future, he would be able to keep on the right path — to keep on any path. Dair seeks the murúch in the warmer waters off the coast of Ellecía.

Elia, 20, Demigod, descendant of [Redacted]

Elia has run away from home. Her entire life has been planned out for her, from the art she can create to the people she can interact with. Her parents have controlled every little detail to maintain their image and power. Elia desperately wants to see the world and escape her parent's control. So, she takes the first opportunity to run away. She loves her family and feels bad about leaving them, but feels she would die if she stayed. Elia must now deal with the guilt for running away and putting her new friends in danger.

Gunnr Sigrúndóttir, 25, Half Ljós Half Dökk, mercenary

Gunnr is unteathered. She is surviving. Taking odd jobs to live day to day, and is unconserned (and actively avoiding) making genuine connections. Being a Helmingr has caused Gunnr great struggles in her life. Neither Ljós nor Dökk accepts her as one of them. Her purpose (before) was being a warrior and protector. She has little to no memories of her mother, Sigrún, who died in battle. She started her training as a Valkrja when she was 12. She was proud to carry on her mother's legacy and to get out of her father's house. She ran away at 20 years old and never looked back. She is ashamed that she abandoned the Valkrja and feels she has abandoned her mother. She put thoughts of her life before in a little box and refuses to think about it. It is not until she meets Elia that a spark of meaning comes to life. And it terrifies her.

A continent on Errgé based on European mythology, folklore, and history.

Ellecía

Based on Greek mythology and Roman politics (with a little bit of Roman myth thrown in)

draws from some elements of Spanish history (colonization – not like Greek/Roman colonization)
