When I started this blog, I hadn’t expected to ever reach 750 followers. I thought I’d get maybe fifty if I was lucky. To think that all of you are as invested as I am in Claire as a character is just mindblowing. I am deeply appreciative of each and every single one of you. To note, I’ve also had Claire’s blog for a year and just – this is really incredible and I can’t accurately describe it in words just how much this means to me as both a writer and someone who just enjoys RPing here! Light Yagami could have had a fulfilling life and maybe help a lot of people working either as a detective or with L (and maybe succeeding him).

But he ended up spending his days and nights killing and figuring out how to escape the police and how to convince people he’s the new law and thus right.

That’s terribly sad. Because one of Death Note’s message (if any) could be that nothing is written in stone, which is deliciously ironic when you think fate is a recurring theme. 

Light thought he was meant to be a fair man, and he died as a criminal. And, ironically, that’s precisely because he thought he could only exist as a fair man that he started his mad crusade to be deemed as the new Law by society as a whole. However, his quest for acceptance ended up in rejection. The few who knew Light’s real face -the crying serial killer afraid of death- will never recover from their disappointment while Kira’s followers continue to pray for a God whose morals are closer to Mikami and Takada than Light, who ended up admitting he knew what he was doing was “evil” in the Warehouse…until he could become the Law. Which is not exactly the definition of Divine Justice, Fair and Just in its essence, whatever mortals think.
