Kyoichi Tsuzuki: ‘Happy Victims’ (1999-2004)

Tsuzuki captured portraits of individuals in their bedrooms, surrounded by piles and piles of clothes and accessories. Each of the above fashion victims shot by Kyoichi Tsuzuki has their own individual obsession. From Anna Sui to Vivienne Westwood, the cramped spaces filled with big brands are a testimony to the paradox of consumer culture.

The last of the Final Fantasy Tactics characters making an appearance in my piece for Spoke Art’s LEVEL UP show opening this Friday at their NYC gallery. I love that this game lets any character play any role, regardless of gender. Between that and the game’s themes of class warfare, it really has aged well.
