Words: 6k
Love is a complicated emotion at all stages of life. But when you are a young adult, letting life crashing on you while having little to no control over what is happening, it can be described as a little more than complicated. hyulbin had learnt it the hard way, Mark also had learnt it the hard way, just like you had learnt it the hard way. And just like life, just like love and just like nights, this has to end.
Chap 1

The sun was setting near the Hangang skatepark. Shadows were dancing on the grey concrete while the wheels of the boards were making a pure cacophony of screeches and annoying frictions. Yet, no one cared engulfed in their own world. A tall man in a neat suit stopped by, eyeing the vast students’ playground, a small nostalgic smile tugging at his lips. They hadn’t seen him.
“Anyways, I swear I can make a Flip!”
“Pfft as if! I’ve heard that enough to know that’s not true.”
An high pitched laugh resonated as a worn out skateboard hit the floor and slid down the ramp. Swears erupted from one’s mouth, initiating another round of exaggerated laughs from the others.
“See!”
“Shut up!”
“Oh no, poor Hyuckie, one day you will do it like the grown ups, don’t worry.”
“Ah ah so funny...”
The pouting boy sat down at the top of one of the ramp, ignoring the others.
“Seriously Donghyuck, are you really upset?”
“Y’all are making fun of me, as if any of you is better!”
He sighed as he lay down, eyes fixed on the sky.
“That’s kinda true though, you talk a lot Hendery, but we’ve never seen you in action huh?”
At this Heachan’s perked up and smiled devilishly at the small group, specifically at the brown haired man that was leaning against a rail.
“Hyulbin spilt facts here! Why don’t you show us how good you are Dery?”
The student in question rolled his eyes and nodded confidently. Before bending down and grabbing his skateboard, he casually high-fived his friend, a proud smirk on his face. Under the soft glow of the sun, Hendery walked up confidently the ramp. He carelessly put the board on the ground and pushed it a little to bring some speed. When he thought it was fast enough he ran behind and softly put a feet on the scratchy surface, bringing up the other to stand entirely on the flat object. The wind was messing his hair up, giving him a carefree look accentuated by his rosy cheeks. Suddenly, he put his entire weight on his back leg and he jumped, allowing the board to roll freely under him. He landed on it gracefully, letting himself slide until he reached Heachan just to wink at him. Then, in fake humbleness, he ran back to the small group.
“That was smooth man!” one of them cheered, engulfing his hands in the pockets of his overshirt.
“Now Hyul, since you pushed me under the bus, would you show us your exploits?” she rolled her eyes.
“I don’t even know how to stand on this thing...” she whined as he leaned again on the rail. Hendery shook his head and took out his phone, forgetting about the young woman.
“Yo, I will teach you.” The guy in the overshirt had said, putting a hand on her small shoulder. She looked up and eyed him suspiciously but he smiled warmly so she nodded, setting her phone on the floor, where the leaning boy was.
As he put his own board down on the ground, he extended a hand for her to take, which she gladly took.
“Stand on it.” He instructed while blocking the wheels with his foot. Her movements were unsure as she was struggling to find a balance when the boy stepped aside a little. The small tilt of the surface added to her weight made the object move a little. “Mark! Let me hold onto you!” she was panicking a little and the boy laughed loudly, coming to her as he put his hands on her waist. She immediately cooperated by placing her own hands on his shoulders. Even though she was standing on the board, he was still a little taller than her: now she could meet his eyes without looking up. They were moving gently, their bodies instinctively getting closer, so close that her forehead was resting on his. They were shyly looking at their feet, holding their breath in. The orange light reflected on a small puddle, projecting small rainbow dots on the ground, he smiled and looked up to tell her. She had also looked up but her gaze was focused on the view behind him, he knew Hangang was probably the most beautiful thing to see right now for everyone but she was in front of him and he understood that he wasn’t included in the “everyone”. So he admired what he had in front of him, her eyes were less dark, the sunset delicately illuminating them with golden spots. Her lips were open, in an awe and he wanted to kiss her, accenting the feeling when her faint dimple appeared with the stretch of her smile.
“Hyul...” he whispered, initiating the intimate atmosphere. She focused on him, confused and unsure.
“I want you, so, so much.” his voice hadn’t raised in any way but it seemed like it was resonating through her. She nodded timidly and stepped down from the board, letting him picking it up.
Just like that they silently left the skatepark, not informing any of their friends, running to her flat with fits of laughter in between.
The man in suit had seen them though, sighing with a grin, old memories do resurface. He caught the eyes of the grumpy boy, he was frowning but the man only tilted his head towards the phone on the floor. With a gasp, the student bowed. She had forgotten her phone.
___
You would be lying if you were affirming that Mark being late wasn’t irritating you even just a bit. It was so cold and you were standing in front of a museum alone, trying to know when he would finally arrive. Small snowflakes were falling and decorating the entire scenery making your hair, that you had braided, a little damp. After trying to reach him once again without success, you had put your phone back in your small handbag and rubbed your hands together to gain some sort of warmth.
“Y/N!” you looked at your left when you heard your name being screamed. Mark was speeding up, looking awfully sorry for making you wait. Could you even stay mad at this boy? He was here, looking darn cute with his soft blue beanie and his puffed jacket. So you smiled and walked to him.
“I’m so sorry, I couldn’t find Hyuck and he had my keys.” he was clearly out of breath, letting some condensation clouds leave his lips. You nodded, assuring him that it was fine.
“Did you find him ?”
“No, I just texted him saying that he had to wait for me before leaving for his club” while saying that, he had stretched a hand to show you the way. He followed you, finally entering the museum and happily welcoming the new heat it procured.
The museum was vast: it consisted of a main room with many walls in the middle to separate some areas. A yellowish light was emitted at the base of these same walls in order to illuminate the pieces of art that were adorning them. The theme was Ancient Greece and its mythology’s representations. You had been curious about this culture for years now, so you were happy when you had heard that the museum had scheduled this exhibition. Your teacher of optional art class had seemed to agree too because this is the main reason why the two of you are here this afternoon. He thought that it would be interesting to put you by pairs and make you work on an art piece that this exhibition had to offer.
You thought that you would pick the person that would be alone when everyone would have chosen their other half since you didn’t know much people, especially in this course. However Mark had had other ideas: he had approached you with his hands lost in the pockets of his oversized hoodie and an easy smile. As if it were natural, he had asked when he should meet up with you to pick the art piece you would study and, still surprised, you answered the first thing that came to your mind.
That’s how you found yourself with him on this afternoon, examining each things inside the museum. He would bend down occasionally to take in every details, writing knowledge on his small notebook, often throwing jokes around. It was fun to do this with him, you were thankful and maybe more.
You entered a room, with less people inside. The walls were painted blue with dim lights. You liked the atmosphere here and it fitted perfectly the idea you had of Ancient Greece. Only sculptures of voluptuous bodies could be found. The work seemed so delicate, you were enchanted. Mark was beside you, still scribbling down whatever passed his mind. Your smile widened.
“We could pick this one over there ? I like the look of terror it has, and probably the lack of nose too!” you said as you got close to it. Mark followed you and laughed lightly at your words, keeping it down to not bother the other people in the room.
“Sure, I like this one.” he nodded while taking a picture of it. “Actually I already have a photograph of it, wanna see?”
You nodded eagerly, was it a permanent exhibit for him to have already seen it? You didn’t have time to dwell on it because he was already pushing his phone on your vision. It was in fact the same sculpture, the elaborated laurel crown was sitting at the top of the woman’s head while the loose toga hanged on her wide hips, uncovering a small breast, the same frozen horrified expression. But next to it was standing Hyulbin, maybe two or three years younger, her long hair detached, imitating the Greek representation. There was a glint in her eyes.
“I should drop it on insta on her birthday, she would kill me” he laughed next to you. You smiled, trying to make it as genuine as possible but it was still hard to ignore the small pang in your heart.
___
A sigh escaped from Hyulbin’s lips as she waited for Mark’s answer. She was laying on her bed, watching intently her ceiling, has her life always been so interesting? She thought sarcastically. However her self-depreciation time was cut short when she heard the front door shut loudly. Shuffling feet against the old wood indicated that the person was venturing down the flat, near her own room. The sound got closer and closer while Hina was humming softly a tune that probably only herself knew about. She lightly knocked on her door and opened it even before Hyulbin could answer.
“Hey you! What’s up?” she asked cheerfully as she jumped on Hyulbin’s bed. The oldest only groaned and took her pillow from behind her head to hide her face inside it. Hina frowned.
“Grumpy?”
For some time, the Korean didn’t respond, staying still while suffocating behind the soft fabric. But the silence was intense and it sorts of forced her to use her voice.
“Ignored...” was all she said as she uncovered her face from the pinkish pillow and focused back on the white ceiling. Hina propped herself on her elbow with a confused look on her face. Her best friend didn’t need to see her to imagine the face she was making, she knew too much about her for that.
“Who? What for?” her voice was warm and reassuring. Hyulbin finally turned her head to meet the deep eyes of the Japanese that were already on her. She sighed but tried to smile: it wasn’t that big of a deal. Why getting that worked up over that?
“Just waiting for Mark to answer... I thought we could hang out tonight. I didn’t get an answer though...”
“Maybe he hasn’t been on his phone. It happens all the time when he finds it in himself to get his work done.”
Hyulbin shook her head slightly, feeling even more defeated.
“He was on insta twenty minutes ago.”
“Holy crap, you’re creepy Hyul. Did you really check?”
The oldest sat up and frowned, offended by Hina’s words.
“I've asked him an hour ago! I had to know if he wasn’t on his phone or if he was just dismissing my messages.” her cheeks were red as she ranted and ranted, letting out some of her frustration. “He usually answers quickly to anything I send, that was weird, that’s all.”
Hina rolled her eyes as she herself sat up, stretching her arms in front of her. “Alright then...” she looked around the room, not adding anything to the two words she had let out. Her eyes met once again Hyulbin’s ones to dart again towards her closet.
“Let’s enjoy a girls night, it’s been a long time!” she said as she stood up.
As soon as those words were said, the two found themselves dressed and ready to hammer themselves with litters of alcohol and bad music at one of the most famous club of Hongdae. And that’s exactly what happened, just the two of them and a feeling of freedom that Hyulbin hadn’t been quite familiar with for months now.
___
You were sitting in front of Mark at the library, chatting comfortably about your art subject. His smile never left his face and you felt proud to keep him at ease like that. Then, suddenly Mark took out a blue box out of his bag. You frowned when he opened it beaming at you. He pushed the small box towards you.
“What is this?” you asked confused when you saw the cookies. They smelled so good that you felt hungry just by looking at them. He grabbed one of the treats and held it right in front of your mouth, mimicking you to open your mouth. You did as you were shown, biting on the soft cookie, taking in the surprisingly good taste that bursted in your mouth.
“That is delicious!” a smug smirk creeped onto his face as he bit one himself.
“Thanks, that is my mom’s recipe, there is a secret ingredient in it.” You nodded as you finished your cookie. You hadn’t imagined that Mark would be a good cook, he didn’t really give this impression, but he had quite surprised you there. You were about to ask what was the secret ingredient when he turned his head frowning. You were confused, and even more when you saw a small smile stretching again his lips and a glow appearing inside his eyes. He was waving at someone who was walking fast, the heels of their boots clicking on the floor. You turned around and saw Hyulbin holding tightly her phone, her face showing no emotions. This girl seemed so cold but you had only interacted once with her and she hadn't been mean with you in any ways. Well, she had only introduced herself. You just didn’t understand how she could get along that well with Mark when they seemed like the polar opposite, Mark was so warm and solar, naive and giggly. You thought that Donghyuck and her would make a better match as he had a sharp humor and sarcasm flooding out of him. You just thought that it corresponded to her more even if you didn’t know that much about her. You had only heard her friends talk about her, and they were always joking around so you didn’t know what you had to take seriously or just forget.
“Here” he said while shoving the small cookies covered in a wrinkled paper towel in her hand when she finally reached the two of you.
“What did you do? Do you want to kill me or something?” Hyulbin asked, eyeing him with radiating mistrust. He pouted and shoved her lightly. “I have put so much effort into them! I had to do an entire other recipe because your person is allergic to vanilla.” He rolled his eyes. She snickered at him and took a bite of the cookie. “It’s vanilline though, not vanilla.”
“There is vanilline in vanilla, it’s the same!” he whined as she checked her phone, clearly late for her next class. She took another bite and waved at them, focused on her phone.
“Thank you Markus, I appreciate it.” she added before finally leaving the library, a small smile directed at her best friend, or whatever they were. He pouted at the nickname, one you had never heard of, well you hadn’t been around his friends that much so it was normal you thought.
After minutes of silence, you found it in you to grab his attention. “Mark?” he nodded while munching on his own creation, reading something on his phone. “I would like to hang out with your friends someday. They seem so nice.” You asked sheepishly, red on your cheeks and eyes squeezing. You had no friends there and their friendship looked so genuine that you kind of longed for it, and they knew so much about Mark while you knew so little about him: you were ready to discover another Mark.
“Yeah sure, I will tell you when we all meet.” He had said that so nonchalantly that you understood that he didn’t mind. You smiled to yourself and went back to your homework.
___
The sun was warming them up a little bit thanks to its sharp rays, however the harsh wind coming from the tall tree behind them largely balanced the sun’s efforts.
You looked at Mark, again. Yes you adored watching him, you surely were guilty of that but you wouldn’t give up until you were caught, he was way too captivating for that. You had reasons for that, well to begin with, he was so different when he was focused, with his brows slightly furrowed and his green pen caught between his lips. You loved this side of his, it juste made the butterflies in your stomach go wild. Plus the way his head bopped a little to the music that was playing in his earpiece was too cute for you to handle. Anyone would act like you in Mark’s presence, you weren’t to blame.
The wind picked up and a sheet of his notebook hastily took off, surprising him and bringing you out of your trance as he stood up and took some steps in front of him to catch it successfully. You looked up to meet his eyes.
“Nice catch!” you said with a radiant smile patting the place where he was previously sitting on the bench to make his sit down agains. He followed your instructions but interrogated you with he eyes.
With a swift motion, he took off his earpiece. “Sorry, what did you say?”
You giggled, “nothing, don’t worry” he only nodded. He was about to go back to his music when you gently caught his wrist.
“What are you listening to?” you didn’t know this question would affect him that much but you were glad you had asked it because his entire face had lit up. He took out his phone from his pocket and turned it on, showing you a Spotify playlist full of songs you didn’t know.
___
You were so damn stressed. You couldn’t help the way your hand was playing with a loose thread of your jacket, you juste felt like you were suffocating. Ok, maybe you were a little bit of a drama queen for that but this is terrifying, objectively. Meeting an entire group of friends, which was not composed of only three person may you add, that had known each other since childhood while you only knew well one person. That is terrifying. You wouldn’t back down though, you had asked for that so you would surely look dumb if you left like that. So you inhaled, deeply, and finally began to walk towards the group that was hanging out on the Basket court.
“Hello!” you exclaimed, catching the attention of Hina and Jeno. They were throwing a ball at each other, before that, as if they were warming up. Still, they directly stopped their activity as they saw you, Jeno offering you a wide smile. Though Hina’s vacillation brought some uneasiness to you. Did you do something to her? Was it because you talked about her to Jaemin weeks ago? It was just a little joke. However, she waved slightly with a timid smile and turned around to talk with some of the boys. That was weird.
“Y/N, come here!” you nodded at Mark and got closer, smiling at the boys sitting next to him: there was Jaemin and you were sure the boy next to him, with the dark blue hood on, was Hendery. You had seen him before, he wasn’t always hanging out with them but you knew he loved skateboard so you had deduced that they mostly met for that. They grinned at you, the Chinese bumping his shoulder with Mark’s.
“Nice to meet you!” he added. “never seen you around? Are you like Mark secret girlfriend?”
You clearly hadn’t been ready for that and it showed because soon enough you were chocking on your own saliva and close to hyperventilating. Was he always this blunt?
“Shut up Dery, I can hang out with girls without getting into their pants...” Hendery rolled his eyes at that, his pupils still shining with a mischievous glint. He had clearly gotten what Mark was hinting at; he had been targeted.
“Yeah, sure.” Jaemin whispered. The two boys hadn’t caught on but you did. That had clearly stopped your analysis over the olders’ interaction. What did he mean?
“Guys!” at that, all of you looked up, seeing Renjun waving, indicating that he wanted the game to begin.
You obviously got into Mark’s team as you didn’t know much the others. Jaemin, Jeno and Hina were also with you. Hina had been nice and had seemed to warm up to you because the smiles she would throw at you from time to time looked way more genuine. You took it as a victory and relaxed a little, giving your all into the game, hating losing. You had to admit that you were a sore loser.
The game was nearing its end and both of the teams were close, and being competitive, you pushed harder to win. Renjun threw the ball at Hendery who was behind you, however he hadn’t put enough force ending up in you catching the ball and turning around spotting easily Mark. He smiled as he caught the ball and aimed at the basket. The ball hit the metal circle before falling in the hole that the white ropes offered. A wide grin broke through his face. At the same time, a feminine voice cheered on the side of the pitch. You and the others turned your heads at the same time.
There was Hyulbin clapping, even though her arms looked crowded with her bags and puffed jacket. A soft blush was painting her cheeks and nose, clearly due to the cold weather, as some loose strands of dark hair stuck to her cheeks with he wind. She almost looked softer here.
“Hyul, you’re late!” screamed Renjun who had gotten back the ball. She rolled her eyes but still got closer, smiling at her friends.
“Sorry, had to finish an essay...” she said but not looking apologetic at all. She squinted her eyes at Haechan. “Which Hyuck had to finish as well!” she had taken her most accusing tone. He only whined but didn’t fight back, he hadn’t done it yet and it shown. You slightly laughed at the innocent teasing.
“Want to play? I think Renjun’s team would do with a girl on their team” asked Mark who was now by your side, stretching a little bit. He extended his hand for her to take, yet she didn’t, preferring clapping it with her own palm and shaking her head.
“I don’t feel like it, but I would gladly watch you play.” she said, a soft smile tugging at her red lips. The others nodded, well apart of Renjun who whined because apparently Hyulbin could be an asset for his team. She shrugged and went to sit at the side, on a bench that was probably icy. She didn’t look like she minded.
Another game started and you were ready to finish Renjun, already marking points while they were struggling to find some sort of balance. You were overjoyed with that, teasing them lightly to rile them up a bit. It was working, you noted. Another shoot, another three points. You went to Mark, high-fiving him when Jeno asked for a short break in order to get some water in his system. All of the participants agreed, getting to their bags. You did too, following Mark.
“Do you have your speaker Hyuck?” asked Jeno while pressing his bottle to his forehead, calming his overheated skin.
“Sure!” he said, getting up to find it in his bag.
“Cool, then put some music...” the younger was about to do that when Hyulbin stood up from her bench, a small grin playing on her lips. She grabbed the small speaker from Hyuck’s hand and got closer to you.
“I think you should choose what to play! Since you’re new and all!” she exclaimed, handing the small device to you. Shyly, you took it, not knowing what to do, or what to play. “Plus, I think we could use some new music because I’ve had enough of Haechan’s playlist...” he whined again. These two clearly had a weird dynamic. Were they flirting like that? Was it their thing? Maybe you could root for them when you would know them enough for that.
“Alright...” you whispered, trying to connect your phone to the speaker. You were shy, what if your taste wasn’t theirs? You weren’t one to not be confident in what you listen to but you weren’t that close to them and you assumed they kind of all listened to the same thing. Trying to rack your brain for a mainstream playlist, you got an idea.
“So what are you playing?” It was Mark who had talked. You turned your head to meet his eyes, which were sparkling. You blushed, but turned back to your phone, scrolling until you found it. He threw his arm on your shoulder, waiting patiently. Useless to say that your blush intensified.
The first notes of a song you had listened to last night started to ring. Mark let out a soft “oh” while he pinched your cheek, a knowing smile on his lips.
You hadn’t caught the surprised look on Hyulbin’s face though, none of them did apart of Haechan, who looked uneasy. She tried to catch Mark’s gaze but he wasn’t aware and was already moving on, bopping his head to the beat. She gulped, looking around her, stuffing her hands in her pockets.
“Wow, how do you know these?” asked a giddy Hendery, eyes glinting with excitement. You shrugged, feeling a little proud. “Not many listen to French rap here, that’s nice!” you had marked points here you thought when you saw him sing along, tripping on some words, but still, looking happy. Maybe you could really get along with them. And Hyulbin had came closer, complimenting your taste with a smile so you were overjoyed, already imagining a developing friendship.
The afternoon had dragged and you had to leave, at some point because you had work to do, which you had put off again and again. So you grabbed your belongings, waving at them when you left, an appeased look on your face.
However, an awkward atmosphere was slowly setting itself on the small group. Hyulbin was sitting on her bench, her phone in her hand while a permanent frown had taken residence on her face. The small crease between her brows noticeably visible. Mark sighed and sat next to her, bumping into her with his shoulder, trying to get a reaction out of her. That didn’t work. He tried again but still nothing. Another sigh left his lips, he was getting annoyed.
“Hyul...”
She didn’t answer.
___
It was practically midnight, the air had gone even colder and all of their cheeks were flushed. Some sniffles were heard because of runny noses but it was mostly hushed conversations between the friends that had divided into small groups. They are walking fast in order to go back home as quickly as possible to finally be shielded from the stinging weather. Soon they were at a crossroad, most of them had to separate there. They waved and said faint byes, Hina looking at Hyulbin guiltily.
“I will stay at Jaemin’s tonight, is that okay with you? Maybe Hendery can bring you back home?” Hyulbin snorted at that and pushed Hina towards her boyfriend. She shook her head, it was only a five minutes walk from there. “I can go back by myself, enjoy your night, don’t go out uncovered though you know!” she sticked her tongue out at her, burying her cold hands into the pockets of her puffed jacket. Hina furiously blushed at that and Jaemin laughed.
She turned around once she had said goodbye to everyone, minus Mark, and met the empty road. She sighed, she had forgotten her earphones and now she had to face the silence. She didn’t enjoy it that much.
She began to walk a little bit faster when she felt a presence next to her, trying her best to not look once in their direction. However, the person seemed to think differently when they stopped in front of her. She sighed and finally met a pair of confused eyes.
“What do you want?”
“Why are you upset with me?”
She sighed, again, and pushed past him. He might think that she was acting like a child by ignoring him but she didn’t particularly care.
“Really? You won’t answer?” he deadpanned, keeping up with her speed. He grabbed her wrist and forced her to turn around. He needed answers and she would have to give them to him whether she liked it or not.
“What do you want me to say?” her voice was just above a whisper and that was unsettling for him since she usually was one to speak her mind clearly and loudly.
“I don’t know? Why don’t you start with the reason you are giving me the silent treatment? Or better, why did you have to completely ruin the mood?”
She raised a brow at him and trashed her arm for him to loosen his grip. She was ready to say something but every words or sentences were clogged up in her throat, frustrating her. He was in front of her, pressing her buttons, he didn’t even seem to know how hard it was to hear what he had just said.
“Oh so now you have lost your voice, I thought you were always the honest one. You know the one who said things when they needed to be said. Apparently I was wrong huh? You don’t say a thing when it’s about you, what is it? Are you too cool for us? Are we your toys for you to not feel alone?”
“You think I’m like that?” the hurt in her dark eyes finally hit Mark and his words weighed down on him. He had gone too far, he was just annoyed with her attitude, he hadn’t meant a thing. She was just so hard to understand and he was craving for more.
He wanted to say more, to apologize and start all over again but she had beaten him.
“You know what? I really, really tried to keep it to myself because I clearly didn’t want to say things that I wouldn’t mean, things that would hurt. I wanted to forget about it and you know, not ruin it for you. But seems like I did, right? So what now? You want me to go all out, you want me to say things I don’t even mean in order to prove your point? To prove that I don’t fucking care about you all? Sorry, but I do care. So damn much even! If I didn’t care why would I be so fucking upset over you sharing our playlist with Y/N? It was ours Mark!” she was panting at the end of her rant, feeling so exposed in front of him.
He was frowning, even more confused than before. His former apology had died on his tongue, leaving him dumb in front of her because she had said so much and he wasn’t sure where she was coming from.
“Are you really upset because I shared our playlist? Are you for real?” he directly questioned her, speechless. She only avoided his gaze, feeling so small. “It’s just a dumb playlist Hyulbin! Get over it!”
Something snapped, as if an entire ocean was unleashing inside her, torturing her heart and ripping her insides apart because this meant so much more to her. Because this was her music, her special thing and she couldn’t believe that it was only special for her, that he had disregarded it.
“We made it together, it was our thing Mark. I hate the fact that you believe it means nothing, that it is just a one time thing that could be forgotten or shared with everyone. Music has always been our thing...” she had looked down at the last part. She remembered their promise to keep it to themselves years ago, the linked pinky fingers and the mischievous look they had on their faces when they sealed it. She looked up again, stilling herself. “Not even Hina had heard it, you know?”
“Oh please, as if you hadn’t shared it with Hendery before. Why are you making a big deal of it?” he was so enraged with her accusations, why was he the villain suddenly? “Did I ever say something?”
“He doesn’t know it exists!”
“Stop it! He knows all of the songs!”
“Obviously Mark! He was the one who introduced me to these artists! He listens to them on his own, not giving a fuck about our playlist because he doesn’t know that we have one. You know people can have the same music tastes!” She was out of breath again, spitting things before she could even think about them. He was playing with her nerves by acting all dumb. On the other hand he rolled his eyes and turned his head.
“People are allowed to have the same music tastes, that’s true. Y/N loves French rap, so I thought I could give her the link to our playlist so she could enjoy it too. That’s exactly why we clicked so much you know? Same tastes!” he straight up lied to her, he was feeling guilty but he had no other way to get out of it. He also knew that she knew he was lying because her face fell, letting show bits of hurt in her eyes. She sighed.
“She doesn’t know a song in this playlist, she obviously doesn’t listen to French rap and she obviously doesn’t know your tastes because she blasted the songs you like the least in this playlist.” she was looking at the road, detaching herself more and more of the situation. It was late, she was so tired, she wanted it to end. “If you like her, just say so, but don’t lie to me.”
She had looked at him when she had said it. He saw her guarded eyes, it had been so long since he had seen them, especially towards him. He couldn’t say a word so he kept his mouth shut.
She blinked, looking back at the road. Without a word, she had crossed it, leaving him alone on the sidewalk, watching her guiltily.
