a scowl sets on the runaway’s face as she simply stares at the peculiar man, unaware of her hands balling into stark white, clenched fists at her sides. being told what to do was not something she was not accustomed to, as of late. after a LIFETIME of being ordered around && graveling at HYDRA’s feet for guidance jade’s learn to play by her own rules.

‘ i hope you can work without a console or two. ’

with a swift kick to the nearest machine, the brunette’s foot leaves the console cracked && dented. a vindictive smile coats her lips as she does the same with the console left of the shattered one, just for EMPHASIS.

a sharp PANG hits in her chest, somewhere close to where her heart once beat —— pietro & the time before would always be a wound that will never close; it was always just them & when it wasn’t, he was taken from her.

the only indication of this ache is a shift in her weight, her eyes dropping momentarily before rising. she looks at the woman & despite the sense of relief she reads, her stomach rdoes not settle.

‘ i had the woman who raised me KILLED. what do you think i’ll do to someone who only wants me around to fill the void of their dead brother? ’

it was easier for jade to scare the former science experiment away than let herself BELIEVE for a second that someone could actually care for her like joanna did or even at all. and despite the relief she does feel, it doesn’t cancel out the almost terrified reality that someone was trying to be her friend just because they could. as sad as it was too admit, she’d never had a friend and she didn’t think starting this late in life would be USEFUL.
